The following is from the City of Martinez:

Big news! We’re excited to announce the Grand Reopening of the Martinez Fishing Pier on Saturday, November 8 at 9am! We are looking forward to celebrating this milestone with our community. Please join us for brief remarks and ceremonial reopening of this community landmark, and share in the great views that it is so loved for! The newly renovated Pier includes structural upgrades like new decking and railings, improved lighting, and amenities such as benches, picnic tables, and receptacles. ADA-accessible tables, seating, and railings are also part of the Pier’s fresh look. Besides these topside renovations and improvements, the substructural reinforcements and work on the Pier’s sheet pile breakwater are expected to extend its lifespan by another 50 years. This renovation has been a years-long process, with planning beginning in 2019 and propelled to success in 2023 with a $2.5 million federal grant from HUD, secured with support from Congressmen Mike Thompson and John Garamendi. This funding made the renovation possible and ensures the Pier will serve the community for decades to come. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, November 8.

Yes striped bass and sturgeon.

About a year ago i saw a dead sturgeon on the rocks on the west side of the pier being eaten by the seagulls, it was about 3 ft long. So i believe they are still around just very very rare.

Why would you think that?
Fishing off the pier was always pretty decent IMHO.
I used to fish there when I was young, grass shrimp on a sliding sinker rig worked pretty well on stripers and flounder… small sturgeons.
You don’t need a fishing license to fish there either.

Mmmmm… Fish with refinery waste… Tasty.
