Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10) made the following statement upon the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors’ unanimous passage of a measure to proclaim a local emergency caused by the disruption of funding for CalFresh food assistance benefits and allocate up to $21,000,000 for CalFresh to benefit eligible households for the month of November.

“As President Trump uses hunger as a political tool to hurt the American people by illegally withholding previously allocated SNAP funding, I am pleased our community has stepped up and voted to provide funds that will help keep tens of thousands of members of our community from going hungry this month. Once again, the Bay Area leads with compassion and logic. Throughout the shutdown, I have engaged with community partners, advocates, and organizations on the issue of hunger to highlight how Republicans’ reckless shutdown is affecting our community. I have also joined my colleagues in urging the Agriculture Department to use the authority and money it has to continue SNAP payments during a shutdown and help prevent 42 million people across the country from going hungry. I continue to call on my Republican colleagues and the Trump Administration to work with Democrats to end this government shutdown, and in the interim to release the more than $5.5 billion in contingency funds for food assistance, as is required by law.”

As marky mark blasts Trump and that is all that he ever does is that all about pandering to the hate and using a current social situation as political currency? Is that noise all about actually helping people or just blowing more stale farts into the wind. Shut up mark and do something actually that is helpfull. Push legislation to help upgrade infrastructure or bills that actually keep citizens safe not some idiotic 2016 talking point.

as leverage during the shutdown. It’s Nancy Pelosi that’s always saying things like, “if we
stay together, we have leverage,” and “leverage is a critical tool of political strategy and negotiation, it’s sometimes necessary for gaining attention.”

$21,000,000 for the month of November? that is $700,000 per day. How much vigorish does Cal Fresh get? This, on top of the various food banks that collect donations (how much food does Trader Joe’s, for example, provide? Safeway?). Apparently, our illustrious representative didn’t get the memo that try as he and the rest of his lowlife party might, this will remain the schumer shut down.

Don’t be silly. The ballroom is privately financed by Trump and other donors. The govt is spending zero on this.

The Dems keep voting to keep the govt closed until they get their way. Schumer has put everyone’s life on hold, just to look tough to the loud, Immoral Minority on the far left.

How bout Newscum stop the 1.2 BILLION (that is with a B) dollar remodel of the state capital building? Why did we mine stone and then send it to Italy for refinishing … for a TEMPORARY house that Newscum is residing in?

How far in debt is California? Let me tell you, 1.6 Trillion!! Yet we have money to throw away on a building remodel!

What else could we do with 1.6 BILLION dollars of tax payer money?
1) Could we have fed some homeless?
2) Could we have provided shelter for homeless?
3) Could we have paid a wee bit more money to our teachers, LEO’s and others?
4) Could we have increased the CALFIRE payroll (AB 1309) that vetoed by King Newscum because it cost too much money?
5) Could we have repaired a couple of bridges?
6) We could have built a 300 person Hotel in Concord for around 100 Million … a NEW BUILDING!
7) You could have built a BRAND NEW State Captial building for 500 Million, assuming Newscum is only skimming 10% or so

Tell me why YOUR President Trump, who secured private funds to do this, should hold off on his ballroom build? Is it because you are suffering, but not officially diagnosed with TDS and you need treatment?

Tell me, did you actually know that the Captial Building in Sacramento, the temporary home of King Newscum, was being remodeled for 1.2 BILLION? Or are you blind to what Newscum does cause you only see an Orange Hue in your vision?

The American people AREN’T PAYING for that renovation first of all. So that has nothing to do with the Democrats shutting down the government & keeping it shut when THEY KNEW FULL WELL that these federal benefits would run out & cause much pain to the American people. THEY actually said THEY KNOW it will HURT millions of Americans, but that was the ONLY “LEVERAGE” they have to ADD ANOTHER $1.5 TRILLION dollars to THEIR proposed CR. Get your facts straight before you speak. Ignorance won’t help anyone. Try DOING something instead. Contact your Senators & tell them to vote for the CLEAN CR & OPEN THE GOVERNMENT SO THESE PEOPLE “WON’T” HAVE TO KEEP SUFFERING.

Last night’s sweep by the socialists has proven again what each generation must learn for themselves. That good propaganda wins the day. In the days of a connected world it’s even easier to amplify your message. Getting old really sucks and I’m not enjoying watching younger people march down this road but each generation has to learn their own lessons. As my generation passes there will be a huge transfer of wealth but by then people will have voted to have the government take it – and distribute it as it sees fit which won’t end well, but by then it will be too late. This is going to be painful to watch for us old folks.

I am hoping things are not that dire. NY is a weak town. They have been run by weak leadership. This unknown spoiled brat (that is what he is, look at his history) got more votes than an old corrupt guy who had more than half the city hating him. There was no reason for Curtis to run, but I am glad he did. It may show the rest of the nation how lost NY is. The more interesting but will be when dimwit cortez tries to unseat schumer. His age will play against him in this case, but there are not many out there that cortez could outwit.

The only thing Marky can do to negotiate is to talk tough. He’s in the house and already voted no on the bill that was passed by the House. It’s up to the Senate to figure this out.

The average American female weighs 146 pounds. The average SNAP receiving female weighs 211 pounds.

Government assistance for food should require that food purchases be for REAL FOOD – fruits, vegetables, unprocessed meats, oat meal, whole wheat breads….
Not garbage fast foods like fast food, highly processed food, frozen pizzas, captain crunch, soda pop…
The taxpayers that pay for it all pay twice: for the dolts on the dole that consume garbage food, and for the medical costs for them when they destroy themselves by eating it.

I’m sure Schumer and this guy are in bed together, and Pelosi’s husband as well.

A few years ago Nancy Pelosi and her slick entourage came into a restaurant line in Walnut Creek that was about 10 people deep I was about the third from the front and she just steps in front of everybody and said oh we’re with the government and we get to go to the front of the line, that didn’t work out so well when I was done verbalizing her they walked out the door and left. Her body guards did nothing even when I was in her face I don’t think they liked her either!
They are all the same a bunch of buffoons and Neanderthals. I went to a Markie town hall meeting last year and was asked to leave as they thought I was going to start some trouble. They were right..
