Construction is moving steadily on Walnut Creek’s upcoming Chick-fil-A, a unique location that will open without a drive-thru, setting it apart from the chain’s traditional layout. The restaurant is taking shape at 2290 Oak Grove Road in the Citrus Marketplace shopping center, replacing a long-vacant building at the corner of Oak Grove and Citrus Avenue. Crews have been active on site for months, with exterior framing, signage, and interior build-out all progressing visibly.
The new Chick-fil-A was approved by the city in 2024 after multiple public hearings, partly due to concerns about drive-thru traffic in surrounding neighborhoods. The decision to eliminate a drive-thru lane was intentional, aimed at reducing congestion and avoiding the long car lines that have become common at the existing North Main Street location.
I’ll go there as long as there is no drive thru line. I got better things to do than wait in a line to pick up food that’s cold by the time you eat it.
My food has never been cold ordering through a Chick Fil A drive thru and the wait time is equal to ordering inside so I take it you’re just hating on Chick Fil A…
Ohhhh! oui oui …. no drive thru in Walnut Creek!
Très Chic!
Good maybe thatl keep the customers away I doubt most will park and go in.
Why would you want customers to stay away? I park and eat at their resturant most of the time and the resturants are always packed so your logic doesn’t make much sense.
Where’s Pollo Loco Walnut Creek?
Walnut Creek does not have a Pollo Loco… I’m surprised they even allowed a Chic-fil-A
KFC had to leave town…. WC is kinda snooty!
Snooty is Walnut Creek! Love it the snootier the better!
That’s nothing… go to Orinda and enjoy a much snootier atmosphere (is “snootier” even a word?) You can strut about all puffed up like a Tom turkey and look down your nose at the commoners providing goods and services to you.
It’s a regular snootfest.
Yes it is my wife runs a retail store and it is a complete “snootfest” there…
Walnut Creek: Where snooty and stupidity collide.
Surely circling over and over for a parking place is a glowing sign of exclusivity.
One question however:
Who was the brain surgeon who thought putting a school next to a brewery was a good idea?
My family does not eat out much (would rather cook at home vs. spending $150 per meal / family of 4), but when we have a hankering for chicken sandwiches, we go to Starbird. Very tasty.
Long gone. There was one on Main just north of Ygnacio. It went away sometime in the mid 90s.
Next time after I go to Kaiser Shadelands I’ll know why I crossed the road.
BAD iDEA….mark my words.

It was rather eye opening about tbe obesity problem in tbe US. I can see wht airlines want to weigh people before flying.
Good point
It already has
I hope this location performs, because room for a drive-thru was left on the south side of the building (parrelel to Citrus Dr) because if it does not perform as expected Chick-fil-A will most likely go back to the city council to get a drive-thru approved
