A woman has been charged with murder for the stabbing death of her daughter in Martinez earlier this week, prosecutors announced.
Brittney Kazee faces the murder charge with a deadly weapon enhancement for the use of a knife in the stabbing of her daughter, 19-year-old Shaniyah Kazee, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.
Martinez police responded at 1:41 p.m. Tuesday to a report of two women in a physical altercation at an apartment complex on Fig Tree Lane. Officers arrived to find Shaniyah Kazee lying unconscious in the parking lot. She was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek but succumbed to her injuries there, police said.
Brittney Kazee was located in the area after the stabbing and was later booked into county jail. She is set to be arraigned Monday afternoon and is being held on $1 million bail, prosecutors said.
