Bay Area Bans Your Cozy Thanksgiving Vibes With A Spare The Air Alert

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has issued a Spare the Air Alert for Thanksgiving Day. The alerts prohibit the use of all wood-burning devices, including fireplaces, wood stoves, pellet stoves, manufactured fire logs, and fire pits — both indoors and outdoors. Penalties for violating the Wood Burning Rule include a mandatory awareness class or a $100 ticket for first-time violations, and $500 fines for second offenses, with higher penalties for additional violations. Burning garbage, plastics, junk mail, or pallets is also prohibited.

Are they also going to crack down on all the homeless people and their campfires? They make a ton of smoke too! Or only on us good citizens who behave ourselves and pay all the taxes and uphold everything?
I really think they do it as an assault on traditional American festivities like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Yeah, and they’re always catching things on fire too, but God forbid the people that pay taxes. Can’t do what they want in their own backyard.
more worried about what people are doing with their lives then worrying about being with their own families on Thanksgiving

Logs are burning, turkey in the smoker. Spare me!

I don’t remember VOTING on this. I cannot post the actual words here of how I really feel about BAAQMD.

Always on the holidays regardless of Purple Air ratings…. been watching it for years (restaurants can burn logs and smoke meats legally …. hmmmmm )

Have you, or anyone you know ever been admonished/fined for that log smoldering
on the grate, or the lovely “Fall” smell it imparts to the neighborhood? 😉
(Can’t say much nice about those fake logs, though. The stink they put in the air is
Choke & Gagger

They’re not happy unless they issue a no-burn on a holiday.

It’s time to disband the unelected and unaccountable BAAQMD!!!

I am thankful that we don’t have people telling us that we can’t use our fireplaces in Tennessee. I am also thankful that we have gas fireplaces in our home, because I’m too old to be dealing with firewood.

Who are you and what have you done with the “Whatever” column?

Since you asked, . . .

They didn’t ban squat, burned wood all day and kept the money from PG&E grubby little hands! Spare the air by sparing the hypocritical warning! Nice and toasty all day all night!!!

Kiss my turkey giblets . . . . . . . . . .
