The California Highway Patrol will launch a “holiday enforcement period” this weekend to promote safe driving and reduce traffic fatalities. They started on Wednesday, and they’ll continuing through Sunday night. CHP officers will increase patrols to make sure seat belts are buckled, drivers are sober and speed limits are followed. According to the CHP, 36 people died in vehicle collisions statewide during last year’s Thanksgiving holiday. The agency said six vehicle occupants in its jurisdiction were killed because they were not wearing a seat belt. CHP added that more than 1,100 people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and officers issued an average of 26,000 citations for seat belt violations.
Too Late……and Pathetic to give a warning. Highway 4 is RIDICULOUS. If you aren’t doing 100mph – you are ran off of the road! And I’m talking about all lanes.
It’s not really a warning when they do it every year (and we’ll be warned again at Christmas time). More like a reminder to the normal people. The idiots on Highway 4 don’t pay attention to warnings, and half of them probably can’t read anyway! They won’t stop their behavior until they’re dead.

Newton’s second law,
“At any instant of time, the net force on a body is equal to the body’s acceleration
multiplied by its mass or, equivalently, the rate at which the body’s momentum
is changing with time.”

Without a seat belt, it’s in car pinball, . . . . . TILT
Well I don’t know what freeway routes they’re covering but drove from Sacramento to Walnut Creek yesterday and on 80 we never went below 80 miles per hour until we hit traffic in Fairfield that whole time didn’t see one CHP either direction. And we were being passed. There are simply not enough police officers to manage speed limits on only but about 10% of the surface roads.
CHP officers tend to use a flow of traffic guideline. If traffic is moving at 80 MPH then you won’t be pulled over unless something about your vehicle or behavior attracts attention. Also, a traffic stop on any roadway is dangerous. An officer won’t pull you over unless something about your vehicle or behavior outweighs the risks involved with a traffic stop.
Yes and if you have dark tinted windows they hesitate to pull you over also especially at night unless you’re doing absolutely something stupid.
