The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has filed murder charges against a Pleasanton man accused of causing a fatal DUI crash in San Ramon. Prosecutors say 27-year-old Badal Devendra Dholaria will be arraigned on December 4 at 1:30 p.m. in Martinez on a five-count felony complaint. Along with a murder charge (PC 187(a)) for the death of a 41-year-old Castro Valley woman, Dholaria faces two counts of driving under the influence causing injury and two counts of driving with a blood alcohol level of .08% or higher causing injury (VC 23153(a) and VC 23153(b)). Each DUI charge includes enhancements for causing great bodily injury to both the woman and a 40-year-old Castro Valley man. District Attorney Diana Becton emphasized the deadly consequences of impaired driving, stating that every DUI is a choice with potentially catastrophic results. She urged drivers to stay off the road if impaired by alcohol, marijuana, prescription medications, or illegal drugs, noting that getting behind the wheel in such a condition “is gambling with lives.”
