Mt. Diablo’s Beacon Returns To The Sky Tonight, Marking 84 Years Since Pearl Harbor Attack

A beacon of remembrance atop Mount Diablo will shine tonight to honor those who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor 84 years ago today and to pay tribute to the survivors who carried its memory forward. The light, originally used in the 1920s to guide commercial aircraft, was extinguished after the attack. It was illuminated again on Dec. 7, 1964, as a tribute to Pearl Harbor survivors, beginning the annual tradition that continues today in remembrance of all who were affected.

Nice Tradition…

A fitting yearly tribute. Through good times and bad, their memories live on as beautiful light cast over Claycord.

The movie,Tora! Tora! Tora!, gives an accurate account of Japan’s point of view and their decision to launch the attack. It is regarded as one of the most historically accurate movies
about the attack on Pearl Harbor.
