Mayberry. A wholesome community where doors were left unlocked and you can trust
your neighbor. Everybody’s friendly and the only crime is when Otis was arrested for drunkenness.
I changed my mind….. I’d rather go to Stepford, Connecticut !
I grew up watching The Andy Griffith Show. A few years ago I drove across country to visit my folks who had moved to Indiana and we went to the Mayberry Cafe, where the original squad car was parked outside. They had a classic menu of southern food and tv’s with the show playing on a loop. I don’t think Indiana was where the show was portrayed to be, but it was definitely the real car. There was a sign on the dash under a button that said, “Siren”. Pretty cool.
Mayberry was supposed to be in North Carolina
(remember they were always “driving up to Raleigh”).
Andy Griffith’s real hometown was Mount Airy, North Carolina.
Mayberry is a lovely consideration. Every time I see the opening sequence, I wish/envision of living in a time and place just like that. I have since the 1980s.
