So is it really 50 degrees right now in Claycord? The temp on my phone says 39 over here in Martinez and its source is the weather station at the PO on Alhambra. This certainly NOT usual temps for this time of year.
Out here in Tuleville it was 39° when I got up this morning and we’ve now warmed up to 41°
On some roads out there cows act as fog horns.
This is typical December weather in Denmark, except about 10 degrees or more colder and humid, it chills you to the bone. When it is frost clear and sunny it actually feels warmer. Besides this time of the year, it doesn’t get light until about 10 a.m. and if it is a cloudy day it starts to get dark around 3 p.m. one reason Danes like candles in the winter. Now you know one reason I love California, although there’s a certain coziness to the dark days, families become closer, people stay at home when possible and talk, play games etc. On the flip side in the summer it is light to about 10 p.m. When I lived in Iceland, from April to July, some nights it didn’t get totally dark, thus we didn’t sleep much, ha,ha. Just kept partying.
For the record, I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, eastern Washington to be exact. Around this time of year there might be two feet of snow on the ground. When I left there in 1989 we had a storm in around January or February that gave us black ice roads and temperatures plunging to -38 degrees. I had a weekend gig to play at an Elk’s Club about 20 miles away but called them to see if it was going to be open. They assured me yes as people around there tended to go from their heated garage to the club. Fortunately I was driving a front drive Subaru wagon which got me around regardless of the weather.

Point is this in no way the usual weather seen here in the 34 years I’ve lived in the Bay Area. Most except for an El Nino in 1999 (I think) was mild in winter with only a couple weeks of severe cold usually at the end of January to February. In fact, most I recall including a balmy sunny Christmas Eve was more like in the high 60s to low 70s.
You can only drink so much tea or hot chocolate. Alaska ain’t got nothing on us!

Teach your cat to use the toilet. You start out be placing the cat’s litter box next to the toilet. After the cat gets used to doing its business near the toilet, you get a pan that fits over the
toilet and place litter in it. The cat will jump up onto the toilet to use the litter, and eventually
you will be able to remove the pan and the cat will jump up onto the toilet seat to do its business. You need to be patient because it can be confusing for the cat, but they can and
do learn to use the toilet. There are videos on YouTube that show you how it’s done.
My Cat refused to use the toilet until the Lid slammed shut…Then he pooped on the little carpet on top.
Cats can teach themselves to use the toilet, but it’s probably rare. Our cat Snowy did, and she only used the front bathroom. We were in our 20s, and it was bizarre. We used to tell people she was attending Stanford while we were at work. Cats are smart, but she was the smartest cat we’ve ever had. Good luck!
