Getting together with local relatives for Christmas dinner. I missed that during the “pandemic” when we didn’t do it.

I love the tradition of giving. I’d rather give than receive.
I miss the tradition of scarfing down my mom’s homemade bourbon balls.
If I ate enough of them, I’d feel a tad tipsy.

I never heard of bourbon balls, so I looked them up, and now I want some. 🙂

Like going to get a real Christmas tree …. other than that not real great memories

I love putting up Christmas lights – instantly the old house seems warmer and happier. I miss singing Christmas carols: walking up the street all bundled up (remember car coats?) with neighbors now long departed, and having neighbors open their doors and sing along, sometimes serving hot chocolate or Christmas cookies.

I miss people sending Christmas cards. I still do but not as many as I used to send. I miss the Monument Crisis Center adopt a family. I loved buying the presents and clothes for the children and driving around to deliver them. That was so much fun.

the tradition I love is finding festivities in the area where we can go as a family to enjoy the season (Filoli, Folsom, Winterfest – no longer, Oakland zoo -replaced by non-holiday lights). I miss the tradition when I was a kid of the huge family gathering, I miss the large gatherings.

Always go out of my way to say something positive to those I come into contact with.
