A storm-related electrical emergency has closed two bores of the Caldecott Tunnel on state Highway 24 on Wednesday evening, Caltrans said.

Eastbound bore 1 and westbound bore 3 were closed as of 7 p.m. Bore 2 westbound and bore 4 eastbound remain open, according to Caltrans.

Traffic is still flowing in both directions through the open bores.

There is no estimated time for full reopening, but crews are actively working to resolve the
issue as quickly and safely as possible, Caltrans said.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their commute.

didn’t they just spend so much money installing generators there to avoid this?

Any update? Are they still down? Trying to determine which way we will go today.

Still closed at 5:00 on my recent drive home from Xmas at relatives!

As of last night around 11 pm they were both still closed but the lights at the entrance of number 3 were on.
