Tolls on seven state-owned Bay Area bridges will increase by 50 cents for two-axle cars, trucks and motorcycles on Thursday, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. The prices will rise to $8.50 on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael and the San Mateo-Hayward bridges.

Totally agree AB. It’s bad enough they charge that for the Bay Bridge, but you can’t tell me that price is needed for the Antioch, Benicia, or Carquinez bridges! I remember when the Bay Bridge was $1, and all others were $0.45. That difference makes a little more sense! It’s flat-out state-sponsored robbery.
Remember this when Gavin runs for president.
They were paid for many years ago and the “tolls” are just siphoned off to other pet projects of the politicos. The maintenance costs are a fraction of the tolls collected.
California is being outrageously mismanaged.

Well, why not? Newsom has been getting away with spending (or stashing) $15.7 billion so far for his train fiasco.
The final cost of that project is estimated to balloon up to around $135 billion.
California’s unqualified voters keep voting for this fool and his super majority of Democrats, encouraging them to continue fleecing the taxpayers
I’m surprised the bridge toll isn’t $10 to get across already.
Don’t fret, fellow citizens. The politicians promised the bridge tolls would/will end when enough money is collected to cover the cost of building the bridges.
Also, we all know that politicians never ever lie.
I remember when you could pay your tolls with change, and sometimes we would pay for the person behind us, just to be nice.
Using tolls to pay for upkeep and repairs on the bridges seems fair enough, but tolls shouldn’t be used for other projects unrelated to taking care of the bridges, in my never-humble opinion.

when i was a kid the GG bridge was a dollar, the Bay bridge was 75 cents and the Benicia bridge was 40 cents!! {angryface}
Nothing but greed. Everyone’s getting paid with these tolls! It really is disgusting…
This is as close to a use tax/fair tax as you can get. Use the bridge, you pay. That is just collection. Now what the fraudsters known as CA bureaucracy do with these funds is a different story (hearing about the multiple billions in fraud in our lovely state, under the watchful eye of greasy hisself)
There are ways around paying at all, rarely caught and if so it’s only a warning. Do enough research you can figure it out.
