This is contrary to what Trump ran on. Let me state in no uncertain terms I was not a fan of Maduro, he is a bad guy, but there’s lots of bad leaders around the world. How is this putting American first, this is going to cost us in dollars and if we are there long enough lives as well. Even if we take the oil, I doubt it will go as smoothly as Trump thinks. I thought US long ago decided against getting involved in regime change, especially if there’s no threat to the US. Will this make it easier for China to take over Taiwan? It would be hard to condemn that when we are doing the same thing.
If Trump is so much against drugs and I do believe he is, but how then does that excuse his pardoning of Honduras president, who was convicted in a US court?

I listened to Trumps new conference, but to get a complete picture you have to listen to other voices and opinions as well. Trump is of course going to make his case, but he didn’t really make it. To many questions unanswered, too early to declare victory, this is just the beginning, the coming week and months will be important to assess what is really happening.

Several international experts have stated it might just embolden China. I’m pretty sure if Biden had done the same that would be one of the arguments the right would make. The US loses credibility if to condemn other countries when we invade another country without provocation.

The situation in Venezuela will likely get worse before it gets better. If thing go well in Venezuela, we’re likely looking at 12-36 months to see significant improvements. If things go badly in Venezuela we’re likely looking at a Venezuelan Civil War.

The cartel drug trafficking terrorist angle was used as a pretext to get U.S. companies into Venezuela to extract and harvest oil, gas, precious metals, gem stones, and rare earth metals. We’re likely to see the same sorts of actions take place in neighboring Columbia and Guyana. If this was simply about drug trafficking we would’ve begun bombing Mexico many months ago.

Whether President Donald Trump ran on taking military action in Venezuela or not, he’s continuing the same U.S. policies of the Monroe Doctrine (Adams Doctrine) which has been in place for 200+ years, the Roosevelt Corollary which has been in place for 120+ years, the Bush Doctrine which has been in place for 20+ years, and has expanded upon the above mentioned policies with the Trump Corollary (NSS 2025 – National Security Strategy 2025) of the last year.

Why would you ever think that the “US long ago decided against getting involved in regime change, especially if there’s no threat to the US?” Regime change was one of the underlying reasons that we’ve had troops in Syria for over a decade, beginning with President Barack Obama, continuing with President Donald Trump, continuing with President Joe Biden, and continuing again with President Donald Trump. What do you think the CIA has been engaging in all over the world? What do you think all of the sanctions against Iran are for? The president decides who and what conditions are a threat to the U.S., and President Trump determined Venezuela and it’s leadership to be a threat to the U.S., which is why he designated drug cartels as terrorist organizations and has used the 2001 AUMF (Authorization for Use of Military Force) to take military action. It’s all about regime change and what’s in America’s interests.

Taking military action in Venezuela isn’t the same as China taking over Taiwan. If the U.S. invaded Canada, and/or Mexico, and/or Venezuela with the express purpose of annexing those territories, then it would be akin to China invading and occupying Taiwan and Russia invading and occupying Ukraine, Crimea (Ukraine), and South Ossetia (Georgia).

President Trump has stated that he pardoned former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández because he was “treated very harshly and unfairly,” and has characterized him as a victim of political persecution. The pardon obviously had to do with U.S. policy goals and the internal politics of Honduras, and likely nothing else. The determination was made that a full and complete pardon was worth more to U.S. policy and interests than serving the remainder of his sentence.

Venezuela is not a huge producer of drugs, but drugs are more commonly trafficked from Colombia and through Venezuela for the European, Caribbean, Canadian, and U.S. markets. President Trump designated Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro as a drug trafficking cartel terrorist leader because he was a “get two birds with one stone” opportunity of a target. If action in Venezuela was only about drugs, then we would’ve begun bombing Mexico months ago. Drug trafficking was obviously used as a pretext to get U.S. companies into Venezuela to extract oil, gold and other precious metals, gems, and rare earth minerals (which really aren’t rare). I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the same sort of actions being taken in neighboring Colombia and Guyana.

Venezuela is a perfect example of the old saying “America mind your own business, but intervene in your interests.”
Trump did not run on a platform of wanting to reenacting Operation Just Cause in Venezuela but then again neither did Woodrow Wilson (D) who’s campaign slogan was “He kept us out of war” before he entered the US into WWI or Franklin Roosevelt (D) who promised the American public that U.S. troops would not be sent into foreign conflicts before entering the US into WWII or LBJ (D) who campaigned as being the more restrained alternative with regards to US involvement in Vietnam then his opponent Goldwater (R) and afterwards begin in earnest the full-scale American take over of the war in Vietnam or Obama (D) who campaigned on an anti-war platform and then authorized military intervention in Libya in 2011 as part of a NATO-led effort to protect civilians during the country’s civil war, which ultimately contributed to the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime.
It is a false equivalence to compare China’s desire to treat Taiwan like it is Sudetenland to be added to mainland China by military means if necessary with the US arresting Maduro. There are no reports by any foreign or domestic news agencies that I could find of there being any US troops in Venezuela. One scenario is acquisition of foreign land by force while the other is seizure of an individual for prosecution.
Did the invasion of Granada or Panama and the subsequent removal of US troops and return of free elections in both countries make it easier for China to invade Taiwan?
I would argue that the US Involvement in Venezuela will actually make it more difficult for China to invade Taiwan. With the US military able to neutralize the Russian made Integrated Air Defense System known to be protecting Venezuelan airspace and establish air superiority for both fixed and rotor wing aircraft within hours. Then breech Fuerte Tiuna, Venezuela’s largest military complex in Caracas, and then seize arguably the most protected couple in all of Venezuela while suffer no loss of any aircraft and no US KIAs will give every foreign country pause on what the true capabilities of the US military actually are.
By comparison, the Russian have been trying for 4 years to establish air superiority over the Ukraine without success and the US military did so within hours.
Netanyahu dropped by for at least the fifth time in a year and told Trump to arrange an attack on Venezuela, and Trump, true to his puppet status, obeyed (you don’t really think the US just waltzed into Venezuela with no opposition without greasing some palms with your money do you? – even Trump said Maduro was waiting for them to pick him up). They want the oil, not for US taxpayers, but because Iran will close the Strait of Hormuz when Israel bombs it in a quest to dominate the region via an ethno-centric violent empire state. Then Trump will send US troops to die in both Venezuela and Iran for causes completely unrelated to the USA. The oil companies, weapons manufacturers, and Trump’s son-in-law will make a lot of money. The people of the US, Venezuela, and Iran will get nothing. Leave the peasant mind behind – neither party cares about you unless you already have money. Both parties transfer our wealth to the already wealthy. Corporations love socialism for themselves – what’s yours is theirs but not vice versa. It’s not too late to demand our tax money be spent on the US.

Don’t forget the U.S. military strikes in Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen, in addition to Venezuela, but President Trump has also held off on authorizing military strikes in Afghanistan, Libya, and Pakistan, which he did consider. To be fair, it’s easy to run for office on no foreign military entanglements, but circumstances may change once in office when the availability of more information is at hand, although, on face value alone, some of the military actions taken overseas over the last year have been concerning and troubling, while others are the continuation of actions first taken by President Obama, President Bush, or President Clinton, and continued by President Trump, President Biden, and President Trump.

After the nomination of Congressman Matt Gaetz for U.S. Attorney General fell apart, President Trump nominated former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi for U.S. Attorney General because Chief of Staff Susie Summerall Wiles recommended and has an extremely close relationship with her. I’ve found Attorney General Pam Bondi to be horrible at her job and believe she needs to go away, as she’s been a disappointment!

Everyone has to wonder why none of the politicians are being arrested for their crimes.
