ZERO calls or texts.
Have limited number of entities that have my information.
.
IF you get calls, ask them
“Do you have a do not call list, as mandated under Federal LAW ? ?”

None. Why? Because I don’t give out my cell number to anyone except friends and family.
When giving your cell number to a business, there is the risk that the business will give or
sell your number. I trust no business, even my doctor’s office doesn’t have my cell number.
Keeping a landline as my principal phone number is an inexpensive way of keeping my
cell number private, and I’m cautious about who I give out that number to also. My landline number is kept private by the phone company, when I call someone their caller ID will say “private caller.” I may get a spam or robocall once every two or three months. Sometimes,
not even that often. I also have two e-mail addresses for the same reason.

We have a landline with caller ID.
Might get 0 to 3 scammer calls a day, but don’t pick up.

I get 7 or 8 every day ON MY CELL PHONE, from an area code that beguines with 1 or 2 or 3 #8s. Its a recording of someone from the so-called “Tax Resolution Services(?!?) I’ve blocked every number; but new ones keep coming.
VERY FRUSTERATING!!!

I just went on line and entered all 3 phones on the “National Do Not Call Registry” website!! Hope it does some good; but not expecting much results (?!?

redrazor,

The “Do Not Call List” only applies to legitimate businesses, not scammers and spammers. Also, charities, political candidates/parties/organizations, religious organizations, and public opinion survey organizations are exempt from the “Do Not Call List.” The bigger problem is when legitimate businesses and scammers/spammers use phone number spoofing, which makes it pointless to file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission. Good luck, I hope the registration works for you.

Usually none on my personal phone. Only friends, family and businesses that reason to contact me have it. Another phone is used for general purpose and the number more known but usually few calls or texts on it as the carrier identifies known spam texters and hides them (though you can read it if you want). The carriers still need to do something more about election years though, because particularly the “dem” types who think everyone has “unlimited texting.”

Captain Bebops,
.
Political candidates/parties/organizations are exempt.

Too many. I signed up for the government Do Not Call List. When will that start working?

Cautiously Informed,
.
It probably won’t fully kick in and begin working until sometime around or after the first of February.

The “Do Not Call List” only applies to legitimate businesses, not scammers and spammers. Businesses that you’re doing business with are exempt, such as a cable company or phone company. Charities, political candidates/parties/organizations, religious organizations, and opinion polling/survey organizations are all also exempt. Legitimate businesses and scammers/spammers using phone number spoofing often makes it pointless to file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission.

I’ve had issues with Comcast/Xfinity calling from Omaha, Nebraska but using a 925 spoofed phone number.

Black Knight is correct. Companies are required to update their call lists every 30 days. I registered my landline in 2003 when the Do Not Call (Telephone Consumer Protection Act) went into effect.
I still get 5-15 calls everyday.

You could play along and learn the true identity of a company and sue them in Small Claims Court for $500 to $1,500 if they keep calling. It requires some effort but it can be profitable. One year I cleared over $10k after expenses.

For scam calls just hang up or humiliate them. Ask what the capital of the state they live in is but don’t tell them when they get it wrong. I have learned some Hindi curse words. Keep an old canceled credit card to offer them. The last time I gave it out she was infuriated to say the least.
