The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has received a $323,500 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to support a specialized prosecution team focused on alcohol- and drug-impaired driving cases.
The funding will allow the District Attorney’s Office to concentrate on holding impaired drivers accountable and improving roadway safety throughout the community. Driving under the influence continues to pose a serious risk on local roads, and the grant strengthens efforts to ensure these cases are handled effectively and efficiently.
In addition to prosecuting DUI cases, the specialized team will work with the statewide Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor Training Program to provide training for prosecutors and investigators. The team will also collaborate with law enforcement agencies to share best practices for managing and prosecuting DUI cases.
Through targeted prosecution efforts and strong partnerships, the program aims to promote safer driving behaviors and reduce impaired driving statewide.
This marks the first year the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has received Office of Traffic Safety funding for a specialized DUI prosecution program. The grant runs through September 2026.
Funding for the program is provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
