There’s an airplane mapping the Concord/Clayton area right now. Nothing law enforcement related. It’s all good.
The aircraft is a Cessna 182 (C182), which is commonly used for:
- Aerial photography or mapping
- Utility or infrastructure inspection
- Environmental surveys (vegetation, wildlife, watershed, fire fuel mapping)
- Fire-related monitoring or pre-season fuel surveys in open-space areas
It’s also used for flight training/instruction but I’d never carry any passengers in it the damn thing hardly has enough power even to get off the ground with a pilot and second person.
It’s a C-182 and it has plenty of power, not a C-172.

…that kind of mapping? yeah that makes me a bit suspicious ….
Yeah, agree. Probably for insurance companies to use in assessing risk to cancel homeowner insurance policies.
DONT BE SURPRISED IF INSURANCE RATES TO GO UP
OR YOU RECEIVE A NOTICE IN THE MAIL FOR CODE VIOLATIONS/FINES ETC.
MY GUESS FOR THE FLIGHT PATTERN OVERHEAD…
GREAT FOR FIRE PROTECTION…
I JUST HOPE PEOPLE LIVING IN THAT AREA HAVE A CHANCE TO MAKE CORRECTIONS ON THEIR OWN BEFORE THEIR INSURANCE RATE SKY-ROCKETS OR PEOPLE ARE FINED FOR CODE VIOLATIONS UNKNOWN OR POSSIBLY KNOWN BUT PUT OFF FOR THE “ONE DAY I’LL GET TO IT WHEN I FIND TIME” (WHICH IS PROBABLY ALMOST EVERYBODY, RIGHT?)
I MAY BE WRONG BUT ITS POSSIBILITY
