California Gas Prices Nudge Lower, Remain Cheaper Than Last Year

California gas prices fell slightly despite tensions within some oil-producing nations. The statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline dropped two cents since last week to $4.21. That price is 18 cents lower than this time last year.

The national average for a gallon of regular gas went up a couple of cents since last week to $2.84. Drivers are still paying less than they were last year when the national average was $3.08. Pump prices are typically low in January thanks to a dip in gas demand and cheaper winter blend gasoline.

“Crude oil prices remain low as markets keep an eye on tensions in Iran, which is a member of OPEC and one of the world’s top oil producers,” said Doug Johnson, spokesperson, AAA Mountain West Group. “Any disruption to Iran’s oil infrastructure could have a ripple effect on gas prices here at home.”

Fuel Prices Around the State:

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand increased last week from 8.17 million b/d to 8.30 million. Total domestic gasoline supply increased from 242 million barrels to 251 million. Gasoline production increased last week, averaging 9.0 million barrels per day.

It looks like the EPA has been sucessful in stopping the EV Mandates in CA. But just wait, between the Refinery and Pipeline closures and the importation of fuel, The State of CA is going to send Fuel prices through the roof, forcing a switch to EV’s, then they will go after those. Because in the end the State wants everyone to use “Mass Transit”

California remains in 1st place with the highest gas prices in the USA.
Even Hawaii has lower prices.

At least CA is first in something…

If, and that’s a mighty big if, the CA government worked for the people, gas prices would be as low or lower than any other state in the Republic.
But since the CA Government works only for its own betterment, they don’t care what the people need, only what the government needs.
CA needs a revolution of people with good character values.

I remember in the 70s when some gas stations advertised their prices by the liter
instead of the gallon. They thought they could fool the public into thinking their gas
was cheaper than their competitors. They thought they could get away with it
because most Americans are unfamiliar with the metric system, and they would
have no idea how much a liter is. It didn’t take long before people figured out that
it cost about the same or maybe even more when it would take anywhere between
55 and 75 liters to fill up their gas tank.

When gas went above $1 for the first time, almost all stations were unprepared. Many stations dealt with it by charging by the half-gallon, but Amoco charged by the liter. I thought it was a great opportunity to introduce the metric system to Americans, but after everyone got their new pumps, they all went back to charging by the gallon.

So, which state will be the first to need $10/gallon pumps?

Charging by the gallon is common sense. Most Americans have enough to think about in their daily lives without trying to figure out the metric system.

We did have one opportunity, but that ship has long-since sailed.

It has been observed that there are two types of nations, those that use the metric system, and those who have been to the moon.
Just sayin’

Maybe cheaper than last year but still about the national average by at least 40% despite Newsom’s campaign pledges to bring CA gas price to parity with the rest of the country & stop the gouging by big oil to Californians

Do you believe Newscum will keep any promise? How about that homeless problem or the high speed rail or even the wild fire issue. Newscum is the worst Governor is the US thankfully his clown act ends with his final term!

Newsom is full of it. He is owned by the Extremeists in his party and the Unions.

Newsom is slowly, very slowly, boiling frogs.
