A man suspected in an armed robbery was shot after pulling an Antioch officer into the getaway vehicle early Friday, police said.

The alleged gunman received non-life-threatening injuries, and the officer suffered minor injuries, police said.

Police were called to the 4500 block of Lone Tree Way about 5:16 a.m. on a report of a robbery in progress.

When they arrived, a suspect rammed his car into one of the police cars.

An officer struggled with the driver and was pulled into the vehicle as it drove forward, striking both a police car and a store, police said.

The driver sped off with the officer trapped inside until the officer fired his weapon, wounding the suspect, police said.

The driver fled the vehicle on foot but was apprehended a short time later, police said.

Anyone who witnessed or has information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Becerra at (925) 779-6866 or abecerra@antiochca.gov, or the Investigations Bureau at (925) 779-6926.

I think the officer, while on his paid administrative leave, spend some time at the gun range.

I wonder if the range has a moving vehicle with a combative driver target in it for the officer to lay down in and hone his shooting skills on as they crash into vehicles and buildings?

THIS IS THE DIRECT RESULT OF THE RACE HUSTLER LAMAR ODOM (former mayor & drunk driver) and THE FBI GUTTING THE ANTIOCH POLICE DEPARTMENT.
Oh and the CHP – You do not get a pass either, Do Something about all of the 100mph speeders out there. Highway 4 IS YOUR JURISDICTION.

Just to be clear….
Are you referring to an onslaught of purist comments referring to OG using the term “clip” instead of “magazine”? or to his qualification of police using deadly force to respond to criminal violence?
I gots to know.

LOL – the former. Although I was equally disappointed that nobody suggested that the officer should have just shot the car out his hand.

Cops in bay area are so weak. Hawaii cops are real tough and don’t allow criminals to ever get the upper hand. Thus, Honolulu streets are extremely safe and well popuoí. Mayor Barbara Lee & Lurie should go there and see how its done. Consequently they have 1000s of tourists. Clean streets, no fent addicts no roaming carload of criminals

I won’t say I wish the shot had killed him. But I do hope it leaves permanent damage to
one or more vital organ.

I have to wonder what position the Antioch Peace Officer put himself in if he allowed himself to be pulled into a car?
.
Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Courts weighing a peace officer’s use of deadly force must evaluate and consider the actions of a peace officer that may have contributed to and/or caused the situation that led to the peace officer using deadly force. The “Moment of Threat Doctrine” has been determined to be no longer sufficient in determining how reasonable the use of force by peace officers is.

Beyond ridiculous to demand anyone be able to determine that in a fraction of a second! When one decides that criminal activity is the road for them well they are of no use to society any longer and should be removed for the safety of the others. Play stupid games win stupid prizes no sympathy for those that choose to terrify and steal from others, live by the sword die by the sword!!!

bddp,

What’s amazing is that this was a 9-0 unanimous decision by the U.S. Supreme Court.

”Non-life-threatening injuries”…bummer! Cops need to learn to shoot better!
