Boot Barn is moving into the old Party City building on Contra Costa Blvd in Pleasant Hill. Construction is currently underway.

At least it’s not a Starbucks.

I just checked and it is a publicly traded company with owners such as blackrock and vanguard so those MBA educated investment bankers must see an angle. Pleasant Hill is an interesting place because on the other end of Coco Blvd a new Japanese supermarket is coming, the japanese version of ranch 99.

Glad to hear it – I hate to see empty storefronts.

Seems like an odd addition considering this area doesn’t have that slow country vibe it used to have back when I was growing up in the area.

Oh yeah the cowboy craze is making a comeback here. CB radios. Honkey tonk music everywhere and wet t-shirt contests just like the 70s here. This store will fit right in. Will they sell cowboy hats also?

Tell it to Taylor Sheridan.

Actually they do have cowboy hats, expensive cowboy hats. There is a Boot Barn where I currently live an the place is 1000% pricey western wear .

Well to be honest that sounds pretty good to me!

Not sure there is that big of a need for pricey western wear in central county but I guess it beats having a vacant retail space. Just wonder how long it will last,

And I think it is cool you are getting a Japanese grocery store. It will be a nice compliment to Ranch 99, And if it is anything like the smaller Japanese markets in west county and SF it will have the best produce you have ever seen and the cleanest meat/fish market ever

I like the raw chickens at ranch 99, they seem to come from a different distribution of farms. The chicken don’t have that fake injected yellow color to them, more natural like the old days. Hopefully the new Japanese market will give some competition to ranch 99 and make them try harder. Competition is good.
