Lots of Americans will die and the regime will be left standing. Thousands of US troops died fighting the Taliban and now they’re more powerful than ever. We got Saddam killed and not only did Al-Qaeda become more powerful but it also gave rise to ISIS. Some of the top ISIS leaders were from Saddams Ba’th party. Now that the ayatollah is dead there is a new power vacuum. Let’s start taking Kalshi bets on what the new terrorist group formed out of the ashes will be. Jokes aside, no government in world history has ever been replaced from airstrikes alone. There’s a zero chance this operation will be successful and any Americans killed will be for no reason whatsoever.
Agree. And actually Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had issued a fatwa stating that acquiring or using nuclear weapons was forbidden under Islamic law. Iran had enriched uranium but it was far below weapons grade.
So ask yourself – If Iran had a nuclear weapon would they have just got bombed? If you think they wouldn’t have been bombed, doesn’t it make sense for the Iranians to work harder to develop a nuke as a deterrent – especially considering that Khamenei is now dead?
Good thing you don’t what you are talking about at all and none of what you profess to know as fact will come to pass! Just a stale fart in the wind like all the noise surrounding anything he does or says. This will change the region in a good way. Iran was a much different place before that feckless waste Carter let the radicals run unchecked and left those hostages on those planes…
What’s there to be positive about? The US does not win wars. We have lost all wars we’ve been in since WW2 with the exception of Kuwait/Iraq in 1991.

Related, but not really… I’d like to recommend, particularly to the younger people who do not know 20th century history in Iran…. a very accurate historical romance movie “SORAYA” available on Amazon with Prime… but also available free on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spL_dZi0cCQ — don’t let the ‘hallmark’ scare you off. It’s Italian made so the lips don’t sync with the English, but the HISTORICAL content is about 99% accurate. The very accurate 1950’s to 1970’s fashions and cars alone are worth the time. Nitty-gritty history can get lost, if you don’t pay close attention.
For those in doubt, this is one COMMENT on YT: “As an Iranian and someone who is familiar with our history, I liked the movie. It was fairly accurate about the political events surrounding the oil crisis. However a few things they changed or got wrong: the person who had a lot of influence over the Shah and his mother was not a cousin, but princess Ashraf , the twin sister of the Shah. I don’t why they renamed her Samira and made her a cousin. The Pahlavis lived in palaces that were a mix of modern and traditional Iranian architecture which are very different than the Moroccan style buildings they used in the movie. Iran is not all desert in fact Bakhtiari tribes are from mountainous regions. Also many women did not wear hijab or chador (the cloth covering their body) as that had been abolished during Reza Shah, the Shah’s’ father. Also Soraya’s brother, Bijan, was never involved in Iranian politics. Queen Soraya’s story is heartbreaking and the Shah did love her but she never lived up to role of an empress. The Shah married Empress Farah in 1959 and had four children, she did a lot for our culture, art and social rights and wellbeing of women and children. Empress Farah was raised in Iran, understood the culture and had a great sense of responsibly. With her help, the Shah did modernize Iran. But he did it with rising the oil prices with the help of Arab leaders who respected him, which is why in 1979 the British and democrats in US aided the Islamists and communists to overthrow him. Since then our country and our people have been oppressed and suffering under a brutal theocracy and the region fell into Islamic terrorism which the Islamic republic of Iran has sponsored. I hope Iran is free again someday.”
From what i understand we did target the IRGC but not the Iranian Army. Hopefully the Army can restore some semblance ordinary living until the Iranians can have a Real Election.

RE: My previous post… Most here will remember the fake US Oil shortages in the mid-late 70’s,
the skyscrapers going dark…no night lights in the tall buildings. Gasoline stations were either
long long lines around the blocks when they got a supply of gas. Once they had the gas and not
the customers, there were Gas Wars, and for a fill-up they gave you a carton of Coka Cola or a
free Disney Cartoon milkshake glass… lots of stuff. And when that slowed… multiple Savings
and Loans went belly up.
Thanks Democrats. Thanks Peanut Farmer POTUS. All misguided early-Socialist maneuvers.
The Iranian National Guard will keep going as long as possible – an uprising by the public is optimistic in the meantime… they have no weapons and the Guard is brutal & horrific – re: all of the protestors killed with no recourse …. Trumper is now saying boots on the ground – my previous concern stands…. don’t want it to be another Afghanistan
Wow. Just wow. Rubio openly admitted the preemptive attack was because Israel was going to attack them anyways an we would be caught in it. They openly admitted Israel dragged us into this war. So now 6 Americans have died because of a war started by Israel and Trump was too weak to stop them despite providing them all the weapons to do it.
Jim,
.
Didn’t Secretary of State Marco Rubio say that Iran was going to retaliate against the United States because of Israel’s attack on Iran? Just as we’ve seen Iran retaliate against other Middle Eastern countries who weren’t involved in the attack.
.
Some reporting has said that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman al Saud of Saudi Arabia was the impetus behind the attack on Iran.
.
So, the 250-400 active duty military deaths that occur each year as a result of training accidents, also shouldn’t occur, but someone in the chain of command ordered training to take place, so should those that authorized the training resulting in a death or deaths then be removed because of training they authorized?

THE BLACK KNIGHT
March 2, 2026 - 7:59 PM 7:59 PM
If we’re lucky, Reza Pahlavi, the self-proclaimed Shah of Iran, Reza Shah II, or some other non-radical Islamic Iranian can take power.
.
If we’re unlucky, a surviving Islamic radical who was already in a leadership position under Ayatollah Ali Khameini takes power and nothing much changes.
.
If we’re really unlucky, Iran falls into a long Iranian Civil War and the region remains unstable.
.
If we’re extremely unlucky, Iran splits into two countries, one of pro-U.S. non-radicals and one of radical Islamists, and fighting between the two continues for decades, resulting in the region remaining unstable.
.
I beginning to get the feeling that this was sold to President Trump as a much easier mission to remove Ayatollah Khamenei and his line of succession leadership and to install a pro-U.S. leader and government than this may turn out to be. Hopefully, that’s not the case.
Our military blew up a meeting and killed 49 of Iran’s top leaders in one strike.
Iran had remaining top brass gather to choose another Supreme Leader today…. and our guys blew them up too.
Dr. Jellyfinger,
.
Then they’ll keep on moving down the line to a member of the Islamic Consultative Council, the Guardian Council, a military leader, a provincial leader, or large city leader, but if we keep killing them all, then it’s more likely that Reza Shah II will assume power.
It is hard to say. No one really knows. Those you see nothing good coming and look at the history of our involvement in the US, have a point and I tend to agree to a point. It is possible that the outcome will be good, and of course we all hope for that, but it is overly optimistic, I think. My good friend that I worked with at Macy’s in Palo Alto is from Iran, her brother still lives there, she is not a fan of Trump, she is very happy that Khomeini and other leaders are going, and they are hoping for a good outcome, of course, but nothing is certain and they while being optimistic they are also nervous about what might come.

They either rise up and become the proud nation state they used to be or they devolve into a failed nation state that we’ll probably have to clean up again in 10 years. My hope is that in the near future we could visit Caracas, Tehran and call me crazy but maybe even Minneapolis.

Here in our recent record in the Middle East. What makes you think Iran will be the one that ended well?
Iraq (1991) – Created instability and a follow-up war.
Afghanistan — Invasion (2001) Instability. Taliban strengthened.
Iraq — Second Invasion (2003) Prolonged instability.
Libya — 2011 Civil War, instability.
ISIS — Iraq & Syria (2014–2025) Transitioned power to Iraq.
Yemen – Short term wins against the Houthis but overall the region was not stabilized and remains impoverished.
You know the Jim, the Iranians are looking for a new minister of information.
You’d be a perfect fit.
