A 45-year-old Concord woman is facing multiple charges following a fatal hit and run incident that occurred early Saturday morning in Pleasant Hill.
At approximately 1:49 a.m. on March 8, 2026, officers with the Pleasant Hill Police Department responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a bicyclist at the intersection of Contra Costa Boulevard and Taylor Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers located a 41-year-old female bicyclist who had sustained critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the involved vehicle fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. The intersection was closed for several hours while officers conducted their investigation but has since reopened.
During the investigation, the suspect vehicle was identified as a dark-colored Mazda SUV. Pleasant Hill Police officers later located the vehicle parked and unoccupied several blocks away in Concord. The vehicle had damage consistent with a recent collision.
The registered owner and suspected driver of the vehicle was located shortly afterward and taken into custody.
Angelina Solis, a 45-year-old Concord resident, was arrested and booked into the county jail on the following charges: felony hit-and-run (CVC 20001) and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated (PC 191.5(b)).
This collision remains under active investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that may assist investigators is encouraged to contact the Pleasant Hill Police Department at (925) 288-4600.
Good job, PHPD, for tracking down the suspect and getting her off the streets!
Riding a bicycle at 1:49 AM?
… it’s a nightly occurrence around here …always dark clothing, no lights …. well the rider is lit
The person killed was a friend of mine. Bicycle was her only mode of transportation due to medical issues. A drunk driver hit her. The driver was at fault. They left my friend in the middle of the road to die alone. Quit victim blaming.
I’m not suggesting the cyclist might be at fault too.
Just curious why anybody would be riding a bike at that hour of the morning… an activity that is optional for most people.
Riding a bike during hours of darkness is risky enough, riding one at closing time is even more so with drinkers driving.
Sounds like someone needs some internet affirmation. Nobody is victim blaming it is called common sense!!! If your “friend” had medical issues as you claim what medicine was she picking up at 1:49 am? What pharmacy is open at that time? I call BS on your claim you weren’t the unfortunate individual’s friend and you just need attention, did you receive enough to get through your day? You are full of it!!!
Some people don’t work traditional hours.
Yes but most people with common sense wouldn’t be riding a bike while dark and impaired visibility for the drivers, that is a recipie for this exact outcome. I would walk with high visibility clothing if I had to be out at 1:49AM period. Unfortunate but people make bad decisions all the time some have consequences and some don’t! Life is no guarantee but precious so take care and keep yourself safe because it is absolutely nobody else’s responsibility to ensure your safety.
She was not working she was an addict and under the influence went across the road while the driver had a green light he had no clue they hit a person and pulled over up the road to a safe space
So being a drug addict is now a “medical condition” and cyclist was DUI but driver that hit her wasn’t… and we are scolded to “quit blaming victim”?
Thanks for reinforcing my lack of faith in humanity…. & keep those “thumbs down” coming.
Not too smart and taking a risk with the obvious outcome. Ultimate personal accountability.
But, wasn’t the purpose of reconfiguring that intersection supposed to make it safe in the sense that bicyclist would have their protected space to rid on.
It’s possible that the bicyclist was riding on the wide sidewalk and the driver, being intoxicated, left the road for the sidewalk. There’s barely anyone on the road at that time and it most have been a normal activity for the bicyclist to have felt safe and confident riding at that time.
Sunday morning, there was police activity on Monument Plaza, where the police had cordoned off the area closest to La Cabana Nightclub. Maybe it was related to this arrest.
Some of these comments does seem rather judgmental. Who knows why she was riding a bike on the middle of the night? Do you ever wonder why people are driving in the middle of the night? I do however have problems with people on bikes if no lights etc. The other night driving on Center Street in Martinez, what looked like a teenager was riding his bike, only one small light in front, he wore all dark clothing and a hoodie, and he crossed the street all of sudden no warning and not in a cross walk, very dangerous, if had been driving a little faster l could easily have hit him.
So what if they are judgemental it’s called life experience!!! Most people know it is a bad idea to ride a bike with dark clothing on at night and reduced visibility. You might just get hit and in this instance she was hit by a drunk driver. Sounds like bad decisions all the way around. If there was an emergency what was an individual with only a bike to ride going to do exactly ay 1:49am in the morning? This easily could have been avoided now one person is dead and the other will deal with life long consequences.
It’s sad all around. The person driving did have one drink they did take her alcohol level and it was below the legal limit. She also had green light. But it doesn’t make what happened right. The person on the bike was under the influence and often going missing from family and living a very troubled life. This person was an addict and chose to live on the streets. The person driving is a mother of three who is a working Citizen and a home but she made a mistake it’s a very tragic situation on both ends and sad and I hope everyone can heal from this. To intoxicated people on the road one in a car one in on a bike.
It’s sad all around. The person driving did drink she did know that she hit something but had no clue it was a person. Her destination was up the street and she decided to pull in that parking lot to check her vehicle and see what was going on. Recently a friend had something thrown in front of her car buy a homeless person pulled over then attack her so with this in mind she wanted to get to a safe space. She had no clue it was a person. Being boundary easily because she was. And not trying to hide. They did take her alcohol level and it was below the legal limit. She also had a green light. But it doesn’t make what happened right. The person on the bike was under the influence and often going missing from family and living a very troubled life. This person was an addict and chose to live on the streets and Road in the middle of the street on a bike while the driver had a green light .The person driving is a mother of three who is a working Citizen. This easily could have been a sober drive and I think the outcome would have been the same. she made a mistake it’s a very tragic situation on both ends and sad and I hope everyone can heal from this. Two people on the road one in a car one in on a bike. Very sad…
