We have to take our 8 y/o dog in every month as his
body will not make platelets.
No specific reason so we need to keep him on meds.
I have 2 dogs. When I take one to the vet itis always 500.00. I have pet insurance
My cat is, and always has been an indoor cat. Because she is a Savannah
cat which is a crossbreed of an African serval and domestic cat she retains
a lot of her wild instincts and will chase and attack other animals. I walk her
daily on a leash, and somehow she managed to pick up some fleas. I didn’t
notice at first, but soon after, I saw her scratching and biting at herself, and
she was losing chunks of fur. Upon close examination I discovered she was
infested with fleas. I took her to the vet, and he also found tapeworms which
is caused when cats swallow the fleas while biting and licking themselves.
He gave her two shots to kill the tapeworms and the fleas. I had to bomb the
house and I threw out her bedding, and voilà ! No more fleas. It’s been two
months now, her fur grew back, and she looks and feels great and no more
fleas in the house or on the cat.
The vet visit and exam was $130.00, the injection for the tapeworms was
$80.00 and for the fleas it was $180.00. She will be turning 14 next month
and other than a little arthritis and some stiffness in her hips, she’s in perfect
health, and never gets sick.
Yesterday actually.
A very friendly and sweet kitten showed up at my door last summer, hungry and skinny. For a few days she was getting beat up by all the male cats in the neighborhood so we let her in and she wouldn’t leave. We quickly found out she hadn’t been spayed yet so we just took her yesterday to have it done.
2 different vets in Concord quoted $900-$1300 dollars for that service which is nuts to spend on a cat who showed up out of nowhere.
So my sister recommended a vet in Pittsburg called Well Pet on Railroad. They quoted me $250-$300 bucks out the door. $300 was if she was in heat when we brought her and unfortunately she was in heat even though she had no signs. Well Pet Veterinary are very nice people, have clean facilities, they are professional and also affordable!
October 2025. Eight Hundred and Fifty Seven
dollars.
Precious Oscar my cat could not be saved. Once put asleep, I choose to keep his ashes with me, here in my home for another $465. I will never regret it.🌹
Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced vet for cats in Claycord? Thank you in advance.
My sweet Bear boy who I doptded from ARF six years ago, when it was ARF, has been a sweet, healthy dog. We’ve been to VCA Encina a couple of times for checkups and fleat and tick meds. They are great. It was a couple of hundred bucks for a one time visit for rabies, Simparica, and a general overall well being visit.
Before Pet Insurance a trip to the Vet was very affordable, no matter what was done. Just like for people, Insurance caused the Fees to SKYROCKET! Now you have to get pet insurance the moment you get a pet, or it will break the bank when you go to the vet. It just goes to show you that when you introduce a third party payer when there was not one before, the costs go up astronomically. Then the cost becomes totally unaffordable. BTW most Vets today are employees of groups that control most “Pet Hospitals”, so another 3rd party is making most of the proceeds.
