QUESTION: With California’s gas taxes totaling about 90 cents per gallon, should the state consider suspending the tax to provide relief for drivers?

Yes! …and suspend it’s “special” Calif blend to bring price parity with the rest of the country!

Unfortunately we had our chance to repeal the
gas tax and instead we voted to keep it.
Mahan is saying one thing but his history of voting
says another.
Don’t fall for the banana in the tale pipe

That should be done until prices drop back to what was the “new normal.” Also, EV owners should start paying their fair share of the road maintenance (which should remain in place after the gas tax is reinstated). Since an EV is heavier than an equivalent ICE powered car, they do more damage to the roads, as well as contributing more particulate pollution from their faster wearing tires. The cost/tax should be commensurate with the damage done by the EV, something based on EV weight and miles driven with MPGe factored into it.

If Gavin has his eyes on the Presidency in ’28 – this would be in his best interest!

He will never ever be president he is forever tied to fecal footprints, the pallisades fire, the train to nowhere and of course his special tax for the tax payer in CA that makes our gas prices much higher than the country average. Plus his auntie has tainted his legacy forever as it should be. He is absolutely the reason when my dear 93 year old mom no longer requires my help we are out of here!!!

@bddp
….and don’t forget that Newsom signed AB 3234, which would allow pedophiles to get out of jail early.

Don’t forget his love, support and care for criminals, including murderers and child molesters, and his belief that hardened criminals shouldn’t be in prison. That might influence his chance at the presidency.

Yes suspend it and call it “temporary” like all the other crap that never is

33

Should never havd been imposed in the first place.

37

SUSPEND IT??? you mean get rid of it for good? instead of filling our glorious Governor’s pockets?

YES! That tax was supposed to go fix our infrastructure. However, nothing appears to be going to our roads. They have MORE potholes than before the tax was implemented. More than ever actually and deeper ones too!

WE need to ask where this tax really went and into who’s pocket.

Where are those protesting leftists? why are they not protesting this fraudulent tax by their elected governor, Moonbeam Brown? Just sayin’

No, keep the gas tax. Our roads around here are in serious need of rehab. I rather pay a little more to keep the roads drivable than having to pay for repairs on my car for driving on poorly maintained roads.

Are you delusional? Our roads are terrible and getting worse!

I am glad that we agree that the roads are getting worse. As the roads continue to deteriorate, it will be even more costly to fix later on. The roads are not going to magically repair itself without funding. But as with everything, we can continue to kick the can down the road and let future generations deal with the consequences. On a side note, Concord has done a pretty good job repaving the arterial streets. Keep up the good job!

Yes he is clearly delusional! Who votes more taxation on themselves? I guess if you buy that “special billionaire tax” line of BS! If anyone thinks for one second that any billionaire doesn’t have more than enough money to just pick up and leave then I guess they can’t see who will be stuck paying that new billionaire tax in the form of some new idiotic nanny state tax for our own good!

Yes permanently

They should, but they won’t.
They hate you for not purchasing an EV which generates kickbacks that support their friends, family, and cronies.
They would have a ticket tape parade if the Straight’s of Hormuz became blocked.

29

Plus, they get more of your money via PG&E, which has Gavin on the payroll.

Who decides the price of gas?

Gavin of course… we all know that!

No. Let it be a topic as nuisance runs for Prez. Plus, I like it, as a taxpayer, seeing all drivers have “skin in the game.” Maybe a tenth of them might actually ask what these legislators/bureaucrats do with all of their money being taken, just for buying petrol, instead of knee jerk voting for any new tax.

Well your new horse and buggy doesn’t need gas so you won’t be paying the tax. 😎

They’d introduce a hoof tax.
And a methane tax.
And an alfalfa tax (the legume, not Switzer, although they might consider that also)
And a $30 per hour minimum wage for horse groomers.
California is really rather plantation-like.

11

YES! And we better send DOGE to Sacramento on the double!!!

They should suspend it permanently! Governor Newsom sends the money elsewhere anyway and not to repairing roads. But California will never suspend the tax to help during this National crisis because Newsom and the California democrats want you to suffer high gas prices so they can blame it all on Trump.

As a former Claycordian, it baffles me to see that nothing has changed in the years I have been away. We come back to visit family and friends every other year or so and the same potholes that were there in 2019 are still there today. I could avoid them driving blindfolded. Maybe I have been acclimated to my new environment, but just the general level of decay saddens me. California or the people should put a DOGE referendum on the ballot to have an independent audit of the States finances to see where all the money goes. Every county and school district should also be audited.

Yo T. Payne jealous of your departure but also inspired! Can’t wait to see how life looks outside this despot cesspool!!!
