Do we still get a day off for Cesar Chavez Day?
Sure Paul… in fact why don;t you take a day off for Juan Corona while you’re at it?
are you a government employee? If so, probably, they will call it Farm Workers’ Day. I hope they drop it as a holiday, one less day I have to pay for someone to have a day off.
Paul,
.
Wasn’t it or isn’t it being changed to Farm Workers Day?
As long as I get a day off, I could care less that what is the new name. Thank you Obama for making it a holiday!
Geez… if shallow and vapid were qualities, Paul would be an item!
Paul,
.
Why are you thanking former President Barack Obama for making Cesar Chavez Day a holiday? He only made it a commemorative holiday, not a paid holiday. If you’re going to thank someone, you should be thanking former California Governor Gray Davis for making it a paid holiday in California.
.
Why is it that you only care about yourself and what you receive in life at the cost to others? Is it because you just like to antagonize others in an attempt to illicit a response out of anger? It really appears that that’s what your goal is here.
well, in that case, thank be to these two great democratic leaders! Unless you are multimillionaires, please always vote democrat for the party look out for your interests (like social safety net programs such as Medicare, social security ect…)
with respect to care about myself (aka self interest), there ain’t nothing wrong with that for it is human nature and foster by capitalism. If y’all want to chase selflessness and willing to sacrifice, then go for it; there are always people ( like me) look for a good deal on the properties that y’all left behind.
Paul,
.
People leaving California are in to position to have to sell their properties to you for a “good deal.” We all know that!
.
You mean millionaires like former California Governor Gray Davis and former President Barack Obama?
.
Being worried about getting a paid holiday off at the cost to others isn’t about self-interest, it’s about your self-absorbed and egocentric way of expressing yourself, but you do that on purpose, right?
.
You’re not being forced to live and work in the capitalist country that you blame for having to look out for your self-interest. If self-interest is human nature, then aren’t the selflessness and sacrifice that you mentioned and seem to lack, also human nature?
.
The fact that you didn’t know this wasn’t a paid federal holiday, but a paid state holiday for almost a decade before Barack Obama became president, most assuredly means you more than likely don’t get a paid day off either.
.
Again, it all comes down to the way that you choose to express yourself in your comments, written in a deliberate and purposeful fashion in an attempt to incite anger to try to illicit an anger generated response.
.
You keep showing us who you really are!!!
yawn! I secretly hope that a progressive democrat will make the patriot day a federal holiday and everyone get a paid time off. Also it should be celebrated with Memorial Day so we could get 4 days weekend to bbq and celebrate. Selflessness isn’t a human nature for every man is out for himself. Whoever value selflessness are probably have low self esteem and easily be manipulated by cult leaders.
Paul,
.
It’s not much of a secret since you’re telling us here that you, “secretly hope a progressive democrat will make the patriot day a federal holiday and everybody get a paid time off.” So, you want Patriot Day, which commemorates the memory of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks to be celebrated in the month of May so that you can have a four day weekend. You don’t want a Patriot Day holiday celebrated on September 11th of each year, of on a Monday or Friday in the month of September, but you want it recognized almost 4 months earlier. Also, you once again have shown us that you don’t understand how holidays work when you posted, “I secretly hope a progressive democrat will make the patriot day a federal holiday and everybody get a paid time off.” Private businesses are under no obligation to recognize a federal, state, or local holiday, so everyone wouldn’t get a paid day off.
.
Selflessness is human nature. The creation of those social safety net programs that you mentioned above would fall under the definition of selflessness, right? The creation of those programs was about the selfless concern for the welfare of others in the population. So, you believe the supporters of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, President Lyndon B. Johnson, and the members of Congress who worked on creating the Social Security and Medicare programs because they had selflessness in their nature and were concerned and looking out for the welfare of the population, that those followers had/have low self-esteem and were easily manipulated by the “cult leaders” Roosevelt and Johnson. Very interesting!!!
.
You once again have shown us exactly who you are!!! Do you ever wonder why so many of your comments end up being removed???
Having a day off for patriot day on memorial weekend ( 4 days of. Yay!) is good; getting pay for the day off is a plus. I am cool with either. Who knows some private businesses might paid for the day off.
let make it happen cuz I love duck out of work as much as I could since I have to work at least 40 years. I could care less if the workaholics could work themselves to death and on holidays. Don’t be a slave drivers y’all
Yes, private businesses can give their employees whatever paid holiday’s off that they want to, whether recognized by federal, state, or local governments or not, but that’s not what you originally posted is it. You wanted Patriot Day to be made a holiday so “everybody could get paid time off.” The fact remains that making Patriot Day a holiday doesn’t necessarily guarantee you or the vast majority of working Americans a paid day off. Do you want Flag Day (6/14), Constitution Day (9/17), and Remembrance Day (12/7) all to be holidays for you, too? Or should Flag Day be President Donald John Trump Sr. Day (6/14)?
.
You don’t have to work for 40 years, you’ve chosen to work for 40 years, you can retire at any age you wish to, as long as you can afford to do so.
.
Once again, you’ve shown us exactly who you really are, why you post the comments that you do, and in the manner in which you do. Is life really that sad for you that you only achieve a modicum of happiness by coming to an online forum to try to anger other readers and posters hoping to eliciting a response?
Are you a farm worker? Why are you getting a paid day off?
Crolique,
.
Former Governor Gray Davis signed a bill into law making March 31st, Ceasar Chavez Day, a paid state holiday, about 25 years ago. It’s basically just a paid day off for California’s public servants.
.
Paul has made it pretty clear that he doesn’t really get March 31st off as a paid holiday, he was just attempting to anger other Claycord.com readers by making the claim in the way that he did.

The story didn’t give us all that much information on how long the dead people on the voter rolls have been on there, except for the claim of one person being on the rolls for 20 years after death in Michigan. On average, 300,000 dead people would equate to about 6 – 8 weeks of deaths. Many or most could be recent deaths. Unfortunately, the story made many claims, but we don’t yet know how accurate the claims of ineligible and non-citizens voting really is. We’ve been let down and tricked by headlines and stories like this way too many times.

aren’t even aware of Iran’s wrongdoings towards the United States.
I’m sure by now a lot of people heard about the crack Trump made

surprises, and the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. I heard that a lot of
young people didn’t understand the joke. Ii seems as if they aren’t
teaching US history as it really happened anymore, and if they don’t
understand anything about our history, it should come as no surprise
that they don’t understand Trump’s decision to attack Iran. Additionally,
many US history books aren’t accurate because they were written by
authors that are biased, and too many biased history books, along with
too many biased teachers, lead to too many ignorant students and

True. Some people have short memories. Which of these wars was a good one?
Gulf War 1 – 1990
Gulf War 2 – 2003
War on Terror – 2001
Afganistan – 2001

I can’t say that any of the wars that you listed was/is a good war, although the reasons for going to war may have been/or are good and valid. The Gulf War/Persian Gulf War of 1990-1991 that you listed probably worked out the best for us as its objectives of removing Iraqi forces from Kuwait were met.

Mosaddegh was overthrown by entirely over his plans to industrial Irans oil industry. It’s a really depressing story to read about. It’s almost as bad as the time we overthrew Arbenz in Guatemala over their plans to buy out banana plantation land from US fruit co. They didn’t like the price and had deep ties to Eisenhower and the Dulles brothers so they got the CIA involved. Arbenz was democratically elected and had a high approval rating among Guatemalans too. Then of course the leader we installed was a dictator and Guatemala was thrust into 40 years of civil war with thousands dead. Yeah we’re not very good with this regime change stuff. Also see Libya and Syria. The new Syrian leader is a literal Al qaeda terrorist lol.

So, the Trump Administration was attempting to follow in the footsteps of President Lincoln during the Civil War, President McKinley during the Spanish-American War, President Wilson during World War I, President Roosevelt and President Truman during World War II, President Truman and President Eisenhower during the Korean War, President Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crises, President Kennedy, President Johnson, President Nixon, and President Ford during the Vietnam War, President Reagan during the invasion of Grenada and the Libyan Bombing Operation, President Bush during the Persian Gulf War and the Invasion of Panama, President Clinton and President Bush during the NATO Intervention in Bosnian and Herzegovina, President Bush and President Obama during the Afghan War and the Iraqi War. and President Trump and President Biden during the Afghan War. The United States government has a long history of “censorship,” during both wartime and peacetime.

Dr. Jellyfinger,

Do you remember back in 2003, when FOX News had to recall their correspondent, Geraldo Rivera, due to extreme pressure from the Department of Defense, because he revealed the approximate location where he was and where he was going on live TV while embedded with U.S. troops?
Still looking for Capone’s vault . . . . . . ?
A live two hour television special, that made his career NOT
Original G,
.
I remember that 2-hour TV special, “The Mystery of Al Capone’s Vaults.” It was a ratings hit, the highest rated syndicated special in TV history. I believe it aired on KTVU Channel 2 here in the San Francisco Bay Area. The ratings success of the special is why Geraldo Rivera got his own daytime talk show and what led him to cable news channels CNN, FOX, and News Nation, although nothing he’s done since the special has achieved the enormous ratings success that the special was.
Honestly I do not remember that, but for some inane reason I remember the Al Capone’s vault flop.
Dr. J-
Capone’s Vault was a huge ratings hit. They hyped it for months. “What will we find? Bootleg liquor? A body? Cash?” Over and over. I really wanted to watch, but missed it.
The flop was not in the ratings but in the almost empty vault. All they found was an empty pint bottle. It was considered a flop because of the extreme hype.
That’s what I meant… nada nothing, they didn’t even find a vault…. just dirt.
I am sure that reporters have safeguard so that they don’t leak sensitive information. If they do purposely leak sensitive information, they should be tried for the crime. (Unless they are Pete who texted war plan to an unknown reporter on signal. The reporter got it right when he cleared it with his boss and appropriate people before reporting the story.)
Paul,
.
So, you believe all a reporter has to do is have their story “cleared” by their publisher or producer, unless they run their own site or channel and self-publish or self-produce?
I remember in 2025,Hegseth,on Signal Chat, leaked, posted and talked about classified/sensitive military intel with people who had absolutely zero security clearance.
Time for you to wake up
Wake up? What are you talking about? I never even mentioned Hegseth!
I know he effed up. So what? I didn’t defend him…. You can trip about it but I won’t.
Demand a resignation… write a letter to Trump !
Now let me tell you what I remember.
I remember Hillary on TV in a debate with Trump in 2016, when she blurted out just how long it takes the USA to respond to a nuclear attack and launch our missiles.
*
I remember Politico commenting “This four minute figure may be ‘out there,’ but it’s certainly alarming how casually Hillary Clinton talks about sensitive matters of national security. Almost as sloppy as hosting a private server without government security and transmitting classified and sensitive material via email.”
*
I remember Biden during a speech calling Trump unfit to be in charge of nuclear weapons and then pointing out the military aide who was carrying the “nuclear football” with all the codes!
I also remember a cardboard box full of classified documents sitting on the floor of Joe Biden’s garage next to his car.
You want to school me on our government’s lack of security?
You’re an amateur.
Maybe information that could compromise the security of the country should be withheld.
Obviously the dim bulb liberals wouldn’t and couldn’t possibly understand that.
And, the New York Times? Is that has
-been so-called news agency even still in existence?
I wonder what your opinion will be when your incredibly jealous team of blue-bellies is in charge.
You fail to realize there are times when national security is of utmost importance and
plans / information must not be leaked by compromised politicians (Adam Schift) and/or the
feeding frenzy jackals in media.
So how many American troops are you willing to sacrifice to fight Iran? I said here weeks ago regime change is impossible from the sky and there will need to be boots on the ground. Now 2 days ago Netanyahu said the same thing on camera. How about your retirement account? How much of it are you willing to sacrifice to fight Iran? It will be impossible to get oil to go back down for years to come if Iran keeps bombing refineries. These facilities are sitting ducks and they can cause damage that will take years to repair with a single one of their $30,000 drones as we saw with the Qatari LNG plant the other day, which spiked natural gas of course. The energy problem alone will absolutely destroy all sorts of industries in the US. Urea and aluminum are already spiking. What is aluminum and fertilizer used for again? And if anyone starts attacking the desalination plants over there it will be an enormous humanitarian crisis for the whole region. I don’t understand why anyone thinks this war is a good idea. The risk is extreme.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-administration-temporarily-lifts-sanctions-on-iranian-oil-at-sea/
we lift oil sanction on Russia. Now we lift oil sanction oil sanction on Iran. Iran might use the revenue to buy more attack drones. It makes no sense that we fight Iran to keep the price of oil up and then buy the oil from them. Also it doesn’t make sense to destroy cheap drone ( I read it is $30k/each) using multimillion weapon; so I hope the congress will say no to the $200b budget proposal.
It makes perfect sense. The Military Industrial Complex is cashing in. They cash in with every war.
People buy the same load of propaganda every time. And here we are paying for Israel and for jets and bombs. And when it’s over we’ll pay to clean it up and rebuild.
Paul, why don’t you do a study to give us a general idea how many more people will die if we don’t shoot down the drones so that we can figure out how much each life is worth?
*
Or…… demand to see proof that the interceptors the Department of Defense spends our taxpayer money on really aren’t overpriced like the $10,000 price tag for a toilet seat lid used in a C-17 cargo plane that Sen. Grassley exposed back in 2018?
*
https://www.grassley.senate.gov/news/news-releases/grassley-defense-dept-there-no-way-justify-10000-toilet-seat-lid
The drones, intelligence, drone tactics are provided by Russia for Iran. We need to tell Russia to stop aiding Iran. or ask for help from Ukraine for they have experienced defeating drones attack from Russia. I read that the Chinese also have some interest in helping iran (https://www.ndtv.com/opinion/iran-israel-war-intel-to-rocket-fuel-the-invisible-russia-china-hand-in-irans-war-11243235)
if those two military powerhouses are helping Iran, then it is not really good for the us for it is like 3 on 2 fight. I have no confidence in Pete. We might need NATO members to back us up but Trump make it worst by insulting ours allies.
Paul,
.
The U.S. is already using communication signal jammers to take down Iranian drones, which is one of the most cost-effective tools our military currently has to take down drones.
Have you considered Trump may be showing Iran that we don’t wish to completely disable them, and simply desire lasting peace…….with certain concessions?

The good news; There are some incredibly intelligent people here.
.
The bad news; We are vastly outnumbered.
I predict Schumer will be fired by his party of losers. Nobody seems to be happy with his obtuse
job performance.
I can’t understand how politicians elected to represent the people, who obviously do not, keep getting reelected.
Politicians who are supposed to support the people’s wishes, and they don’t, and these same politicians keep getting reelected.
Politicians cause hundreds of workers to lose their pay, expect them to keep working, all for a political issue, while doing great harm to the people, and the politicians keep getting reelected.
Can our Republic be so overwhelmingly corrupt that the people no longer have any control over the Politicians?
California is.
Abe,
.
Politicians only represent those who voted them into office. As an example, do you think Congressman Mark DeSaulnier is going to represent the 33.5% of voters who voted against him or the 66.5% of voters who voted for him?
Should there be an age limit for members of congress ? ? ?
A few examples pelosi, mad maxine, nadler, the turtle and Feinstein.
https://tinyurl.com/yc47v7tn
Original G,
.
There should absolutely be no age limit for members of Congress to be forced to leave office. The fact remains that all people of the same age are not equal in their mental and physical health. With people living longer than ever before, it should come as no surprise that we’re electing people to office at an older age. No voter is being forced to vote for these candidates.
.
Of the examples that you mentioned, only Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters of California is running for reelection this year, Democratic Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi of California is retiring in January 2027, Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler of New York is retiring in January 2027, Republican Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is retiring in January 2027, and Democratic Senator Diane Emiel Goldman Berman Feinstein Blum of California has been dead for almost 3 years.
.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters has had several battles combating the corona virus, other than that she only seems to suffer from a more than occasional case of “foot in mouth disease.”
.
Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi had a fall which required hip replacement surgery, and other than being in desperate need of another face-lift she appears to be in fairly good health.
.
Congressman Jerry Nadler has battled cancer and has struggled with health issues following his stomach reduction surgery a few decades ago, but otherwise appears to be in fairly good cognitive health.
.
Senator Mitch McConnell has had some falls and cognitive issues due to hitting his head in a fall, but that isn’t necessarily an age related issue. A person of any age who hits their head in a fall can have cognitive issues.
.
While Senator Diane Emiel Goldman Berman Feinstein Blum was suffering from signs of dementia and other health related issues, and should’ve resigned, people in their 30s are now being diagnosed with early onset dementia. A member of Congress of any age could suffer from the same health conditions that Senator Feinstein suffered from.
.
However, there are two members of Congress that you didn’t mention, Republican Congressman Hal Rogers of Kentucky and Republican Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa.
.
Congressman Hal Rogers is currently the oldest sitting member and longest serving member of the House of Representatives at age 88. Other than injuries he suffered as a result of a recent car accident, which a person of any age can suffer from, he appears to be in fairly good cognitive and physical health.
.
Senator Chuck Grassley is currently the oldest sitting member and longest serving member of the Senate and both Houses of Congress at age 92. He’s also the current President Pro Tem of the Senate, making him third in the line of succession to the presidency behind Vice President J.D. Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson. He has suffered health issues stemming from a fall that required a hip replacement, which a person of any age can suffer from. He also still runs three miles four days a week, and still works his farm alongside his son and grandson. He’s also planning on running for reelection in 2028, at age 95, which means if he’s reelected, he’d be age 101 when his term ends in 2035, surpassing former South Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond who left office at age 100. I still remember watching the 1996 election results where Strom Thurmond was reelected at age 93, and one of the attendees at his victory party was his childhood babysitter.
.
Our last three presidents have been the three oldest presidents ever elected, each surpassing each other, President Trump took office in 2017 at age 70, President Biden took office in 2021 at age 78, and President Trump took office in 2025 at age 78.
.
Our last four former presidents to die were also our four longest living former presidents, each surpassing each other in age, former President Reagan died in 2004 at age 93, former President Ford died at age 93 in 2006, former President Bush died at age 94 in 2018, and former President Carter died at age 100 in 2024.
Mandated age retirement or cognitive testing when
announcement of seeking reelection is made. Then again
why wouldn’t they step aside for the good of the country ? ? ?
.
Hubris, unbounded, such ‘a wonderful thing’ in a politician . . . . .
Congress has more than we’ve mentioned, who are beyond their
“best by” dates.
.
Do still wonder how many staff members are tasked,
to keep them from wandering off.
.
Old Presidents you say, . . . . . . .
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9XAFik0aBs
Original G,
.
You can keep dreaming and wishing for a mandatory retirement age or cognitive testing for members of Congress, but it’ll never happen. Members of Congress can hide the results of medical/cognitive testing just as easily as presidents can, just as members of Congress have chosen to hide what members of Congress and their staff members have been accused of sexual harassment and sexual assault.
.
If I want to vote for a 25 year old for the House of Representatives, a 30 year old for the Senate, or a 95 year old for either House of Congress, that’s what I’m going to do.
.
Again, nobody is forced to vote for any of these candidates for Congress, they choose to vote for these candidates knowing their age and any signs of physical and/or cognitive decline. Younger, fewer wrinkles, and newer aren’t always better.

The Citizens of Concord need to force the City Council to establish a Citizen Review Board for the Concord Police Department.
The Board would be made up of concerned Citizens of Concord to review and advise (if needed) on all aspects of the Police Department and its operations.
At this time, there is no way for a Citizen to observe Police Activites or procedures.
A citizen review board should be implemented no later than the end of 2026.

Residents don’t get to nominate candidates to sit on city boards and commissions. You’re absolutely correct, but there’s one huge issue, the Concord City Council would only appoint citizens like themselves to the Citizens Review Board, they don’t want any diversity of thought, and they only want people who’d sweep issues and problems under the rug. True, but I think Cuba is the much better example, where a fifth generation is now being born into the tyranny that is and controls Cuba.
Yet more incendiary rhetoric,
which democrat party has raised to an art form.

“Hodgkinson had been politically active since at least the 2008 financial
meltdown. He protested with Occupy Wall Street and became an emphatic

Many may not be aware of a purpose built single shot pistol costing
$2.10 to make in 1942, FP-45 Liberator. Packed in a waxed box with
10 rounds of ammo then parachuted into enemy occupied areas.
Idea being resistance fighters would use pistol to take out an isolated
enemy soldier, and arm themselves with better weapons.
.
Should U.S. undertake something similar in an effort to enable people
of iran, who’ve suffered from 47 years of theocratic terrorism inflected
on them, to rise up and overthrow the regime ? ?
The VAST MAJORITY (85%) of Americans want Congress to pass the Save America Act.
Like the stubborn little weenies they are, dems continue their selfish rants & tantrums because
regardless of party, we AMERICANS agree with Trump.
.
Congress did agree on this though; they voted to protect their sexual harassment records, but
not America’s elections.

If Congress blocks these and other important issues, do we really need that pact of crooks?
Newsom commented on Kamala Harris: “She may run for another office, she may run for school board”.

That sounds more like a left handed slight to me… let the insults begin!
I feel sorry for the school board.
Why does anybody wish for more Kamala? She was a poor DA, a crappy AG, a do nothing Senator, an invisible VP, and the absolutely worst presidential candidate since I was born.
Her only legacy will be nothing more than a DEI hire with a salty aftertaste in her mouth.
