Delta Air Lines has temporarily stripped members of Congress of special airport perks as the ongoing Department of Homeland Security shutdown continues to disrupt travel nationwide.
The airline said it is suspending services such as airport escorts, priority rebooking, and other VIP assistance for lawmakers until the funding standoff is resolved. Delta’s CEO criticized Congress for allowing the shutdown to drag on, noting that unpaid TSA workers have led to staffing shortages and long security lines at airports.
The shutdown, which began in February amid a political fight over immigration policy, has caused widespread delays as TSA agents go without pay and some leave the job.
Despite losing these perks, members of Congress can still book flights through a dedicated service line and will otherwise be treated like regular passengers based on their airline status.
Good….all airlines should do the same!
I hear that Tee!
Yay for Delta! hope the others follow suit quickly!
Awww, . . . . . . . so now they’re, NOT SPECIAL . . . . . . . .
Should make an exception for Senator Fetterman.
.
Which airline will be next ? ? ?.
Almost as good as pelosi’s bus to nowhere.
They should have to deal with airport lines like the rest of us do, permanently. Self-serving jerks.
Looks like I now see why Congress has not set minimum seat and leg room requirements and why there is no congressional push back on checked bag fees which can pose a hardship on the elderly and otherwise disabled passengers. (Not to mention making the boarding and deboarding process longer).
BINGO!
But we pay for their legroom…and sleeper seats.
Fly Delta!
Get it now? They don’t want you to go anywhere. Stay put and shut up is their goal. Do you think that is a good idea?
Now lets stop paying them until its over.
does that mean bernie and dim cortez will have to wait like everybody else when she runs for (snicker/guffaw) President? Oh wait, they will use continue to private jets (probably provided by the oligarchy).
