A Pittsburg man was arrested Monday evening after a reported robbery at a bank inside a local supermarket, according to the Antioch Police Department.

Officers responded around 6:06 p.m. to a robbery in progress at the U.S. Bank located in the Raley’s at 3636 Lone Tree Way. Police say the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Gerald Anthony Oretger, handed a teller a note demanding money. The teller complied and provided cash.

Authorities said Oretger briefly left the bank but returned moments later and voluntarily gave the money back. A security guard detained him until officers arrived.

When police attempted to take him into custody, Oretger allegedly became combative—striking, kicking, and spitting at officers. He also attempted to grab an officer’s service weapon, police said.

Oretger was taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.

No serious injuries were reported.

He faces multiple charges, including robbery, first-degree burglary, attempting to remove a firearm from a peace officer, and battery on a peace officer.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Antioch Police Department at (925) 778-2441.
