Clayton Station (Safeway) Entrance Signs Replaced For First Time in 36 Years

New Signs Going Up At Each Entrance

After more than three decades, the Clayton Station shopping center on Clayton & Kirker in Clayton is getting a fresh look at its entrances. New monument-style signs are being installed to replace the original signage that has marked the center for roughly 36 years. The update is part of an effort to modernize the shopping center’s appearance while improving visibility for drivers and visitors entering the site. Now if they could just fix the parking lot!

The Old Entrance Signs Have Been There Since 1990, When The Center Was Constructed.

Still seems new to me. I remember two previous Safeway stores across the street.

I do as well, I remember hanging in the creek that ran naturally through that shopping center. I also remember riding my bike with friends on the huge dirt mounds when they wer filling in the creek. The creek was AWESOME! I remember all the old shops now long gone. Much better area back then especially compared to now!

That parking lot is a disaster. I avoid shopping there because of the difficult parking exacerbated by bad drivers.

isnt that pretty much any parking lot now a days. Along with the fact nobody knows how to operate an automobile with common courtesy? Just sayin………………………………..

agree but still better than Orchard & Encina at YVR & Oak Grove… it could also use a repaving but that won’t happen anytime soon

I dont find the parking lot bad, maybe im old as ive been using this shopping center for over 25 years. Now the new Orchard with Safeway in Walnuit Creek or new Veranda in Concord are so much worse for parking.

Overall i like the new signs in Clayton Station.

Went from angle in parking to straight in parking years ago,
might have been parking space vs stores square footage
don’t know. Regardless stopped going there years ago
because of parking dumbness .
.
Clayton Valley shopping center across Clayton Road spent
a small fortune on Stop signs and an almost maze like driving
layout. Avoid that one also, even though we live just a mile
and a quarter away.
.
Still miss Yardbirds, had great selection and many of the staff
were retired had experiential knowledge from working in the
trades. Manager was a knowledgable and attentive, an
exceptional individual.

Brand new sign, same old building, with many empty shops, too! And the parking lot is a hot mess mixed with inconsiderate drivers. Avoid at all costs! Also, why are parking spots, in general, so dang close together?! Too many door dings from people not paying attention!

They seem closer together because almost everyone now drives an SUV rather than a sedan and the spaces haven’t been made bigger to account for that.
