Walgreens has agreed to pay $6 million to settle a civil case involving pricing errors and the sale of expired products, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.
The settlement stems from violations that included overcharging customers above advertised prices and selling expired over-the-counter drugs, baby food, and infant formula.
Under the agreement, Walgreens will pay $5.4 million in penalties and $600,000 to cover investigation and enforcement costs. Contra Costa County will receive $612,000, plus $10,000 in additional costs.
The company must also implement a three-year compliance program requiring routine checks for pricing accuracy and the removal of expired items, along with clearer signage for its price guarantee policy.
…. no surprise … they’ve been lax in so many areas of the business … and understaffed .. and the good employees are taken for granted & expected to pick up the slack for the slackers… Walgreen’s needs an overhaul
This is retribution for them closing their stores down during the Scamdemic and not letting the ghetto rats rob them into oblivion!
Say goodbye to Walgreens.
Drove US Steel out of California.

Another dip into, “deep pockets”
This store deserved it!
More and more of these kind of lawsuits….thanks too the “ambulance chaser” lawyers.
About time, and not harsh enough. What $$$ do the customers get out of it?
~~
Quick story. Because it was small, this store was Mom’s favorite afternoon ‘outing.’ She could use her walker, I pushed her cart. She was nearly blind and nearly 90 — but she loved to touch and
check out the make-up and the polish, (sniff every sampler perfume). AND She loaded up on cupcakes, English muffins, juice etc. One day, she got tired and I helped choose the snacks and
English muffins for her.
EVERY package was fully (gag) blue/green mold. Left to her own, she might have toasted those and eaten them. Just the thought made me angry. What kind of employees don’t notice that stuff?
I stepped over a few feet to the woman working the camera/film developing Dept.
Me: ” Hi. You might want to call the manager down to see — all of these are spoiled.” Showed her
one pack.
Her: “Huh? Do I look like I’m in charge of the breads?”
You don’t want to know how, but I gave her a lesson in how to speak ‘rude’ ~ like a pro! (I am
really good at it.)
I walked back to the “breads” and turned every single package over to show the most mold,
and spread them around the cooler all over the juices and yogurts.
We left the basket sitting there. I took Mom to Target.
I never took her to Walgreens again.
I have now gotten in the habit of checking expiration dates on everything at every store before putting it in the cart. It’s shocking how so many things are expired or near-expired at several stores we all shop at. Everything from granola bars to headache medicine and sunscreens. Double-check all those dates.
Marketing expired goods has always been part of their business model.
I have a question: Why doesn’t the DA take action against Safeway who is always over charging customer.
