On March 30, 2026, at approximately 9:58 a.m., officers with the Martinez Police Department contacted an individual while on routine patrol near the Amtrak station at 601 Marina Vista Avenue.
During the encounter, officers discovered the individual was in possession of suspected illegal narcotics. The person also told officers they had precursor chemicals commonly used in the production of illegal drugs, which were found to be in various stages of the manufacturing process.
As a precaution, the Contra Costa Fire District Hazardous Materials Response Team and the Contra Costa County Health Services Hazardous Materials Incident Response Team were called to the scene.
Hazardous materials personnel evaluated the situation, secured the chemicals, and ensured the area was safe. The chemicals were later taken by Contra Costa County Health Services for proper disposal.
The individual was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on multiple charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
Good and much much more of that kind of patrol is needed in that area especially considering they just recently upgraded the piers which look amazing. There is far too much homeless and drup use on the premises, I saw many elderly as well as young families enjoying the park, marina and shoreline ammenities. Keep the trash out!
Was he using the “shake and bake” method?
