The last remaining Subway location in Clayton has quietly closed its doors, leaving the city without a single Subway restaurant for the first time in years. The sandwich shop, located in the Clayton Station shopping center near Starbucks, had been one of two Subway locations. With the earlier closure of the city’s other location, this latest shutdown now brings that number to zero. A sign posted on the door confirms the closure but does not provide any explanation. The closure comes amid a broader trend affecting the chain. Subway has shuttered hundreds of locations nationwide in recent years as franchisees face rising costs and shifting consumer habits.
Maybe make a sandwich with a decent amount of meat?
Over priced. Over processed. Over it.
Didn’t know it was there
Not really a healthy place. I have heard the bread has alot of sugar and a bunch of other chemicals that are not good for you.
You say that as if it’s a bad thing.
I don’t believe anyone is crying over this closed store.
Last Week Tonight did a story about Subway’s business practices included how they sell franchises too close to each other.
Now close the ones in Concord.
subway is not food. Worst place for a sandwich.
Chintzy…. all the subways are a ripoff.
I’m surprised they lasted this long.
I stopped going to them years ago.
Any of you ever get a sandwich that even remotely resembled the menu photo?
Ever see the movie Falling Down with Michael Douglas? There’s a great
scene where he orders fast food and totally flips out because the food
doesn’t even come close to resembling the menu photos. He argues with
the manager that the burger is a lie, he pulls out a gun and demands they
serve him breakfast. The movie is a dark comedy about a guy frustrated
with society and has a mental breakdown. Douglas is great, sporting a
crew cut and a pot-belly.
No, but now I’m curious….I’ll find it.
Try Parma Deli for a real sandwich … family owned, good people, all their food is yummy … on Clayton Rd near the big eucalyptus tree
Never recovered from Jared
