A man from Walnut Creek who is already facing double murder charges in the 2025 deaths of his wife and mother-in-law has now been charged in a separate 2024 homicide in Los Angeles County linked to the same case.
Prosecutors say 43-year-old Howard Wang, along with 33-year-old Demarques James Pearl of Los Angeles, has been charged in the killing of 41-year-old Chengli Li. Authorities say Li—who was in a relationship with Wang’s girlfriend, 45-year-old Yan Wang—was shot and killed outside his apartment in San Gabriel on June 8, 2024. Yan Wang is also a defendant in the Walnut Creek double homicide case.
Investigators allege Wang and Pearl planned the killing in advance and traveled from the Bay Area to Southern California the day before the shooting.
The Los Angeles County case will be combined with the Walnut Creek murders and prosecuted in Contra Costa County.
Both defendants were scheduled to be arraigned at the A.F. Bray Courthouse in Martinez, but the hearings were postponed at the request of defense attorneys. Pearl is now set to be arraigned on April 1, while Wang’s arraignment is scheduled for April 14 at 1:30 p.m.
Sound like great upstanding citizens…if guilty sounds premeditated and should qualify them for a visit from sparky or Dr. Feelgood!!! Tax payers should not be burdened with animals that prey on society.
