Cowellian’s first.
Easter blessings to all of Claycord.
Thank you, Cowellian – and blessings to you, too!
And to Mr. Mayor for hosting this site.
has anyone else noticed the number of fires in the last week and a half between Concord and Walnut Creek? Maybe it’s normal and I’m just now noticing it but there have been eight or nine fires in businesses and cars, is that normal?
One thing that should never be done, using long extension cord to power
an extra fridge or freezer in the garage. AWG wire sizing is very important,
using a 16 AWG cord or smaller is a fire waiting to happen. Use short
extension cords with a minimum size of 14 AWG.
.
Smaller gauge extension cords can’t supply amperage needed, resulting in
cords generating heat, which can melt insulation on wires causing a fire.
It was a difficult concept for me to grasp without actually touching & seeing various electric
cords: The lower the number gauge…the bigger the cord…the larger its capacity.
I admit, I had to see and touch it to understand that a 12 is superior to a 14 or 16.
Many years back a big box store had sale on weed whackers, some
young stock kid put 50 foot 16 awg extension cords next to them.
People would buy two 50 footers and a weed whacker. Store at first
couldn’t figure why so many weed whackers were being returned.
.
Another department at work had spools of 16 awg stocked in our
spares warehouse. Welders and mechanics would burn up hand
grinders using 16 awg, extension cords, couldn’t supply amps
tool needed. An when that happens the magic smoke every
power tool has, escapes.
.
Anytime I found a 16 awg extension cord, in our department I’d
cut male and female ends off, save ’em then chop what was left
into three pieces and toss it in a dumpster.
Or you can err on the side of caution and not use extension cords at all. The risks outweigh the benefits.

A solution to a non-problem…… a battery or electric powered blower of the same performance of a gas blower is close to or equally noisy as a gas blower….. from experiance.
Oh, the suffering, and wailing. The noise for 30 minutes a week…maybe a whole hour ~~~ in exchange for clean, manicured neighborhoods? Woe is me.
By all means. Call the power tzars… whine real loud. They need that to justify their tax-funded
paycheck.
I noticed that the Blow n Go landscapers have not changed and are still using loud gas blowers. One guy has an extremely loud one similar to a 2 stroke Kawasaki motorcycle with a broken muffler. Maybe people don’t know how to report or just don’t care.
or know how to read English…..
If you report everything that annoys you, you’ll be burned out on life by age the age of 35.
Go ahead. Report. Complain louder than the Blowers. Watch the grounds’ maintenance costs go up, the weeds too. Watch the leaves clog the gutters, storm drains & canals. Just watch. Chain-saws and tree maintenance will be their next target.
Filled up two of my vehicles with gas today and spent $227. One is a truck with a 26 gallon tank ($142, that’ll get me 350 miles) and the other has a 16 gallon tank that takes premium only ($85, it still had a bit left).
The Chevron on Contra Costa Blvd. in Pleasant Hill charges 40 cents more per gallon for unleaded than the three gas stations by Kaiser in Walnut Creek.
I think that’s gouging. And they never refill their receipt paper – if you want a receipt, you have to go inside. Must be a cost-saving measure.
Two or three times a week I have occasion to patronize businesses at The Orchards Shopping Center. A problem has been growing there for the last couple of years, which is adolescent boys on ebikes. Whether it is clowning around doing wheelies, speeding on sidewalks endangering pedestrians or ignoring traffic conditions, something bad is going to happen sooner than later. Last Friday I had to take evasive action to avoid an ebike rider who blew through a stop sign at the three way intersection at the bottom of the roof parking ramp. I had already come to a full stop and was accelerating and midway through my turn. I came within 15 inches of hitting the young man. Parents: Be careful about equipping your sons with these bikes. And if you do, you need to admonish them about safety practices. You as parents will be legally liable for injuries caused to others as a result of your child’s negligence.
Think your kids are a handful ?
Think again
You find the best stuff.
You might have heard about train almost hitting a
school bus in Florida. View from inside the bus,
Lapse in judgement ?
There was contact, kinda sideswiped the rear of the bus.
We had a huge thunderstorm out here in Tule Land about an hour ago.
Lots of lightning & thunder plus really heavy rain.
What a show.
Funny…. all that weather and the Terns didn’t give a care, they just kept diving from high in the sky into the water catching fish.
