California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced $145.4 million in new state homelessness funding, including nearly $54 million for two Bay Area counties, as part of California’s latest effort to move people off the streets and into housing and services.
The funding, distributed through the state’s Homelessness Housing, Assistance and Prevention program, will support local governments statewide, including about $49.9 million for Santa Clara County and nearly $4.1 million for Solano County, according to the Governor’s Office.
Newsom’s office said the Santa Clara County allocation will help sustain interim housing, rapid rehousing programs and supportive services, while the Solano County funding will support emergency shelters, navigation centers, rental subsidies and case management services.
State officials said the latest grants build on what they described as a 9% reduction in unsheltered homelessness in 2025 and the first statewide drop in homelessness in 15 years.
“We’re making critical investments through programs to help local communities expand housing, strengthen services, and better support people experiencing homelessness,” Newsom said in a statement. “But just investing money is not enough — we have to invest in programs and local governments that are producing real results.”
Across California, eight regions will receive funding in the latest round, including Sacramento, Riverside and Orange counties, as well as Yolo, Yuba and Lake counties. About 80% of the funding in the newly announced awards is dedicated to interim and permanent housing, state officials said.
The program has helped transition more than 100,000 Californians into permanent housing statewide, the governor’s office said. Earlier this year, the state also awarded $419 million to the Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco counties as part of the same funding round.
State officials said a seventh round of homelessness funding totaling $500 million is planned in the next state budget year.
The $25 billion that California spent/lost in homeless funding could’ve built 40,000 to 50,000 housing units. This is nothing more than more wasteful spending by the state.
And fraud too! Gavy is great at fraud just like his auntie.
Just more grift from the Democrats. Very little of this money will reach those who it is intended for. The majority will go into the pockets of bureaucrats and then into the Democrat party.
For heavens’ sake stop voting for Democrats!!!

The state is broke. Is Newsom printing money now? 🤣
Well now, another wad of tax payer dollars thrown at the problem.
How much of the money will be absorbed by NOG “overhead”,
salaries plus campaign contributions to democrats . . . . . .
This is the very same game plan that Biden used….what were they saying “throwing gold bricks off the Titanic”? (which makes no sense, these people aren’t particularly smart) He’s got to get the cash out to the laundromat before he hopefully joins Kamala in political Siberia. Here’s to hoping his wife continues to keep making a fool of herself.
