Rep. Eric Swalwell Bails Before He Can Be Booted From Congress

Embattled U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell announced his resignation from Congress on Monday afternoon amid allegations of sexual assault.

In a social media post, Swalwell mentioned his “mistakes in judgement” and said he’d continue to “fight the serious, false allegation made against me.”

He said he is aware of an effort to introduce a motion to expel him from Congress “without due process, within days of an allegation being made.”

He said that effort is wrong but “it’s also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties. Therefore, I plan to resign my seat in Congress.”

A spokesperson for Swalwell didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Swalwell, D-Castro Valley, announced Sunday that he is withdrawing from the California governor’s race in the wake of sexual harassment and assault allegations against him.

On Monday, House Committee on Ethics Chairman Michael Guest, R-Mississippi, announced that the committee has initiated an investigation into allegations that Swalwell may have “engaged in sexual misconduct, including towards an employee working under his supervision.”

Many local and national political leaders were already calling on Swalwell to leave office voluntarily prior to the start of any ethics investigation and on Sunday, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., said she would introduce a motion to expel him from Congress as early as Tuesday or Wednesday.

Does anyone else find it strange that we haven’t heard a peep from Mark DeSaulnier
about Eric Swalwell. I guess he couldn’t figure out how to blame on President Trump.

Now, Tony Gonzales (R), a Texas congressman has said he will resign. His case is even worse than Swalwell’s, since his subordinate wound up killing herself. Who’s next?

Well raise my rent! Resigned from both!
Swalwell will go down, so to speak, in history as more honorable than Bill Clinton!
So, who was the other guy in the video? And who was the videographer?
Maybe the guy filmed getting b**** up the *** in the Senate hearing room? Or the flashing breast implant guy from the Whitehouse lawn?
Or perhaps, Bill Clinton, Anderson Cooper, Mayor Pete, Ron Jeremy, or…………..Epstein?

I hope Swalwell does get kicked out of Congress. I’d love to see all politicians who have egregiously broken any laws be prosecuted to determine their guilt or innocence. And if found guilty, sentenced to the maximum number of years the law allows.
To represent the people of our great Republic, one should be the best of people, i.e., have good character values.
In the future, we, the voters in our great Republic, should vote based on values and opinions, not fancy signs and smiling faces.

A Stark reminder to obey the 10 Commandments !

Swalwell’s behavior was reprehensible, and if the charges are accurate, illegal. Gonzales’s behavior was reprehensible, but not illegal. We the people are clearly still willing to elect reprehensible people to congress, are we ready to kick them all out?

And what’s really the garbage is that he will probably get his gov’t pension and medical care.
