One person was killed and seven were injured after a wrong-way driver collided with six vehicles late Friday on Interstate Highway 680 in Walnut Creek, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crashes occurred about 11:23 p.m. when the wrong-way driver was traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-680 just north of Treat Boulevard, CHP spokesman Daniel Gilmore said Saturday.
A passenger in one of the northbound vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
Four other people, including the wrong-way driver, suffered major injuries and three sustained minor injuries, Gilmore said.
The woman driver of the wrong-way vehicle, a Dodge Charger, was taken to a local hospital and later determined to have been impaired at the time of the crash, the CHP said.
She was placed under arrest and remained at the hospital for treatment, the highway patrol said.
Charges against the wrong-way driver are still being determined, Gilmore said.
I got an alert from RING shortly after this happened. I hope this woman is in jail for a long time and isn’t let off the hook by some soft-headed judge.
She will get 5 years because she is a women. 10 out of 10 women agree they shouldnt be held accountable for their actions and some simp judge will go agree and go soft on her just just like in bed. Thats what she said…

I had a wrong-way driver going across the San Mateo Bridge one night about 10 PM. When I called 911, the gal laughed and didn’t believe me at first. I got real serious with her and she said she’d send a car. I didn’t see anything about an accident the next day, so I guess he either made it across or the CHP got him.
It can be done from Monument, Park Regency apartments or Treat blvd. So many ‘DO NOT ENTER WRONG WAY’ signs at every exit. I guess the old spikes that they had at Drive in movies would help…..but we know somebody is going to back up for whatever reason and the State will be paying for a bunch of flat tires.
Hell isn’t hot enough for the driver.
hope our soft on crime judges in CCC finally through the book at the suspect for once, they would if the victims were their family members.
They will not be soft on her. CCC files on DUI’s because they make the state money.

Many years ago, my wife was driving late at night with me sleeping in the front passenger seat. I awoke to her screaming that someone was driving the wrong way and just awake enough to see headlights fly by us one lane over. We called 911 and they asked if it was about the wrong way driver and told us they had police on the way already. This was late 2000s, cell phones, but long before mass text alerts. We got lucky.
Killing someone in this way is beyond sad and stupid with all the other ways to get where you are going now. I hope they throw the book at her.
