More than 5.86 million Californians are expected to travel at least 50 miles from home during the Memorial Day weekend, according to AAA. The forecast sets a new holiday travel record and is slightly higher than last year’s numbers.
AAA says more than 4.77 million Californians will hit the road, while over 632,000 are expected to fly. Another 455,000 are projected to travel by bus, train, or cruise ship. Despite higher gas prices, AAA says demand for summer travel remains strong. The busiest travel days are expected to be Thursday, Friday, and Memorial Day Monday, especially between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. AAA is urging drivers to prepare their vehicles before traveling and reminding motorists to drive sober and move over for stopped emergency vehicles.
I thought everyone has electric cars so fuel prices won’t impact them.
Almost every other car in my neighborhood is EV or Hybrid. But don’t expect these kinds of organizations to acknowledge that. Even California smog testing needs revision from it’s rather draconian to something more like other states have including doing away with it since it accomplished it’s goal. It’s about the bucks to pay for the bad state spending.
