Today, May 13, 2026, at approximately 12:16 PM, Concord Police Dispatch received reports of possible gunshots inside the Sunvalley Shopping Center.

Officers responded to the Piercing Pagoda kiosk located on the upper level of the mall. Upon arrival, officers learned the suspects had already fled the area in a dark-colored SUV prior to police arrival.

The preliminary investigation revealed that four unidentified suspects, described as wearing hoodies and gloves and armed with hammers, smashed a jewelry display case and stole jewelry of an undetermined value.

During the incident, the employee working at the kiosk was pepper sprayed but did not sustain injuries.

Sorry to say, but the demographics of that place has really changed. (for the worse!)
I remember when it opened in 1967…it was glorious. I was just a kid, but I remember that they had all the new 1968 cars on display thruought the Mall. Stunning!

So, . . . ah, . . . which freeway on ramp did they use this time ? ? ?
.
When will insurance companies start refusing to write policies
for Sunvalley Shopping Center.

Employees should get $50.00 per hour Hazard Pay.

Unidentified suspects is right!
Was it an all girl gang or just guys?
What color were the hoodies?
how about some hints?

I have so many memories of Sun Valley in the ’70s. It will never be what it once was.
Raze it.

Demographics is destiny…

What I miss about the 90’s? Sun Valley Mall being a safe place to shop.

And Anna Miller’s was there.

🙂

Cowellian,
.
For a few years they had 2 Anna Miller Pies, one by JCPenney and one by Sears.

I remember.
The one by Penney’s was a pie shop, while the one by Sears had a regular menu. My favorite lunch was a spinach salad served alongside their chicken pot pie.
I became an Anna Miller’s fan in Aiea, Hawaii, near Pearl Harbor.

The Sun Valley Mall is not a safe place to shop.

Remember when this kind of thing happened regularly during the 70s and 80s NOT! Back then we didn’t have a state government(and their supporters) that supported criminals and enabled crime.

I work at the mall this happens frequently. We had 3 smash and grab in 4 weeks. One associate had was pepper sprayed, another had a heavy box thrown at her, hit her in the forehead, she got a nasty bruise on which developed into a black eye the next day. She was out of work for almost 2 weeks. I’m considering moving to ClearLake, a couple of mt friends worried it wasn’t safe up there, properly no worse than Sun Valley Mall.

Really do your research on Clear Lake as location is important. There are some nice gated communities now, but when you go to a grocery store in the morning you will be the only one not buying alcohol. The drunk driving problem up there is significant.
That said, there are some neat restaurants and small hotels. However a big renovation probably won’t happen until they re-open Konocti Harbor Inn. After that more money will follow. Good luck in your search.

When will the dolts get it?
A vote for a democrat politician is a vote for promoting crime.

we have a republican president. How is that working for you?
