Waymo voluntarily recalled software across its self-driving vehicle fleet after one of its cars drove into a flooded lane in San Antonio, Texas, the company confirmed.
The company, owned by Alphabet Inc., said the April 20 incident caused no injuries and did not impact Bay Area operations. Waymo filed a voluntary recall notice with federal regulators 10 days later after identifying an issue involving flooded high-speed roadways.
Waymo said it has already issued a software update and is working on additional safeguards, including limiting vehicles from entering areas at risk of flash flooding during heavy storms.
The recall comes months after hundreds of Waymo vehicles stalled during a major San Francisco blackout, prompting city officials to question how the autonomous cars would respond during emergencies and road closures.
Does rear bench seat double as a flotation device ?
.
Up front and personal view while driving thru intersection with,
active police felony stop, guns drawn goin’ on.

Hmm, how to program for real life, real time, non standard conditions ?
The Coast Guard had better get involved with these.
Worked a few decades as industrial electrician, doing upgrades to motor
drives, process controls and troubleshooting. When designing or building
a control system first you idiot proof then real word conditions show you
what you overlooked.

Large data center projects in Texas, electricians with experience are
pulling down $200,000 + a year. Wish i was still young enough to still do it . . . . .
I thought those were jaguars. 😎
I certainly saw these tested here in Contra Costa but you get a ride these days here on them. Seemed to be a concern about crossing bridges.

Turns out that EVs do output ozone. But California smog rules are too stringent anyway. There is a hope that Trump will override them as those effect some states that used California rules as a guideline. Like I’ve been saying about every other car in this state is an EV or at least a hybrid.
.
As far as AI used to identify these cars that industry just hit a brick wall as communities looking forward to hosting a data center have learned that there city water get sucked up by them. There have been data center projects recently canceled due to this. Earth isn’t ready for AI. We don’t need it anyway.
I was in the car downtown, waiting for my wife. I was amazed at how many Teslas are driving around.
Hmm, a word got omitted and should say:

Also not that long ago on Claycord.com there was an announcement of free rides on Waymo in Martinez as a promotion for a couple days. And I still see them occasionally so they’re still testing here.
… more reasons I’m waiting till all this gets well sorted out before I get in one
It was inspired to be more than what it was told it was…… Breaking down barriers of social injustice.
“yes I almost puked saying that”
maybe next time it will be a submarine.
I’ve always wondered, but haven’t chosen to investigate yet, when Waymo cars get
stuck either by blackout or flood etc. Are the occupants able to exit the vehicle
or are they captive? Also, I see Waymo riders as a target for thugs and thieves.
Maybe I’m just being paranoid.
The ones I’ve seen are Jaguar vehicles not Tesla. I would hope that there is escape mechanism.
Did anyone tell you about the self destruct switch?
