Jesus, why are there so many of them. I recognize some of these guys, especially the transient ones.
I used to check is regularly when the kids were young. I’d look for “blue dots” near the house, the school, friends’ houses, etc. I am very glad that I did.
We moved to Clayton and the kids were 4 and 6. When 1st and 3rd grade started, they made friends quickly. One friend became very close with play dates, after school get togethers, and an occasional sleep over. I happened to check Meagan’s law in the Clayton area and a blue dot showed up near the friends’ home. I asked my wife what the friends address was and the website showed a perv who lived next door to the friend. When I showed her the picture of the guy, she freaked out because he answered the friend’s door the first time she brought the kids over.
Long story short, we asked the mom what the deal was. She said it was her uncle, but that he was innocent and railroaded. We said our kids were not going to their house again, but her kid was welcome at our home. The mom just made excuses for him, told us that everyone has skeletons in the closet, and wouldn’t let her kid hang with ours.
Protect the children. Blue dot scumbags do not change their behavior.
Wise precaution and decision
A couple of days ago. There is one sex offender in our town. They’re everywhere, and thankfully there aren’t more

“IN VIOLATION”
Periodically I will check it, maybe once a year. Why? Because 15 or 20
years ago I was checking it out and to my surprise I had a neighbor that
was convicted of forceable rape. I never met him, and I don’t remember
ever seeing him, but when I checked out his address, it appeared he was
living with his mother. I knew the single young lady who lived next door to
him, so I told her to go on the Megan’s Law website and check it out, that
way she can make a decision on what to do. About a month later she sold
her home and moved. I don’t know what happened to him, but he doesn’t
live there anymore and neither does his mother. There are a lot of women
on the Megan’s Law website, and I’m not surprised since there seems to
be so many female teachers banging away with their students lately.

There is a sex offender who lives across the BART tracks from a preschool and middle school in Concord. I used to believe that sex offenders who abused children couldn’t live within a certain radius from school and places for children, but…. this is Contra Costa County in California.
I always check that site before I go on any wilderness canoe rides.
