They should teach driver’s ed
They should not teach DEI

There are so many more our education is in shambles.

I don’t think it is up to schools to teach driver’s Ed. In Denmark and many European countries you can only get a drivers license by being taught by a licensed professional. Meaning he\she have undergone extensive training and is licensed by the government to teach others how to drive. It is quite expensive to get a driver license in those countries.

Should – more on home finance, budgeting, investing for the future, how to fil out a job application, interviewing techniques, auto, wood, and metal shop for schools that don’t teach it, driver’s ed and driver’s training

Should not – (or actually less emphasis) – art, music, “communication”, media production, DEI, etc. – more STEM

Schools should teach the value of owning a good character.
Schools should not teach a teacher’s personal political agenda.

I believe school should teach everything but recess lol

Should: practical skills. What to expect when they turn “legal age”. How to survive w/o a smart phone.

Should not: the “theory” of evolution. Fiction should never be presented on a school curriculum.

Darwin was a nice man, but he knew nothing of RNA, DNA, Proteins and the complexity thereof.

Judging by the brain trust in Washington, DC, and Sacramento, they should teach economics 101.

Let’s start with reading, writing, arithmetic, and history.
And let’s ban wokeness, anything political, and teacher’s personal beliefs.

How to think not what to think.
The three R”s
Keep your personal politics out of it.
Unfortunately this is very difficult lately as people cannot separate their feelings and preferences from teaching a balanced society.

If limited to only one each, I would say teach reading and don’t teach alternative sex ed.

I think budgeting and financing and investing would be a good idea. One could say it is up to the parents, but they will pass on the way they handle money or not handle it. So, a more objective view would be better.
My parents were very frugal, but also generous towards those who had less. We were not wealthy, we were not poor, but at times things were tough especially the years after the war. As much as I think I had great parents (adoptive) they did not do a good job of teaching me about money. It was mostly my dad who talked to me about money, but he tended to preach, rather than teach. He saw early on I liked nice things, and he would say I better marry rich (that was before many women had a career, although my mother worked). I listen to Dave Ramsey, and according to him you should do this with money, invest it, be generous and enjoy it. My parent left out the enjoy part. Which until several years ago left me feeling uptight and anxious about having money.

Schools need to teach respect, common sense, manners, taxes and funds / credit handling.

Teach: Astronomy, and how you aren’t at the center of it.
In fact, you are waffling somewhere outside of Pluto. Now, get an education and make something of yourself because nobody owes you anything.
Not Teach: Idealism. It’s a romantic concept but it never has, and never will work.
