More than 400 nurses and health care workers at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, the organization’s largest affiliate, voted to unionize with SEIU Local 521, union officials announced.
The new union, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte Workers United, represents clinicians, nurses, and health service staff across the organization’s 30 clinics in California and Nevada. Workers said the move was driven by concerns over staffing, pay, workplace conditions, and uncertainty caused by federal funding cuts and withheld Medicaid reimbursements. Planned Parenthood Mar Monte sees more than 320,000 patients annually, including at clinics throughout the Bay Area, San Joaquin County, and the Central Coast.
