Contra Costa County Public Works will begin construction on the Morgan Territory Road Bridge Replacement over Marsh Creek (Post Mile 5.0) on Monday, June 1, 2026. The project is expected to continue through Thursday, October 29, 2026, weather and conditions permitting. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Traffic control will be in place, and motorists should expect delays of up to 30 minutes near the main construction area and up to 10 minutes at the Morgan Territory Road Bridge at Post Mile 2.1. The project will replace the existing timber bridge with a new reinforced concrete bridge supported by concrete pile foundations and soldier-pile retaining walls. Additional work includes building a temporary stream diversion system and detour road, along with drainage improvements, guardrails, grading, paving, and rock slope protection. Construction is expected to be completed within one season.
5 months for that tiny bridge?
Getting paid by the hour?
Is it all being done by just one guy?
“stream diversion system”? that would be what…. a little earthen dam and a plastic pipe?Doesn’t that trickle of a creek run dry in the summer?
No mention of cost?
It would probably be faster & cheaper just to go with the detour road.
