That all people, under any circumstance, can choose to “pull yourself up by your bootstraps”… we may all be in the same storm, but we certainly aren’t all in the same boat.

I used to believe the war in Vietnam was a just and noble cause,
that the US and our allies were invited by the South Vietnamese
government to help resist the North’s aggression and to prevent
the spread of communism. I now realize it was a tragic error brought
on by JFK and LBJ. The biggest mistake was LBJ allowing the war
to escalate and allowing Washington to dictate to the Pentagon on
how the war should be fought. Militarily, we won nearly every battle,
but we failed at achieving our political objective, and politically lost the war.
Yes, we were told that communism would spread across the world and destroy our way of life, so we had better invade Vietnam.
Now we’re being told that Iran wants to nuke us, despite them having no nukes. Who is more insane, the politicians that spew this nonsense or the people that believe it?
Observer,
.
Is it that you were for the death penalty and you’re now against the death penalty or that you were against the death penalty and now you’re for the death penalty?
That government works.

And with that lesson learned, still no deja vu around current events 🤔
Was Viet Nam producing a nuclear weapon and threatening to destroy the western world, back then?

The MDUSD used to teach its students that the U.S. was “required” to be in and fight in South Vietnam as a result of a treaty. I believe it may have been the Military and Economic Aid Treaty of 1961 mentioned in the link below.

That the Democrat party is the party of working class responsible love of country Americans.
That doctors and other authority figure are trustworthy.
That the organized religion in which I grew up was the only way.
