The State of California now has an estimated 3,055,949 votes left to count and an estimated 56,296 votes to cure and count. Only 35 days of vote counting left to go!!!

Contra Costa County has an estimated 55,200 votes left to count and an estimated 5,000 votes to cure and count.

The Measure B sales tax margin has widened from a margin of about 29,182 votes on Wednesday to a margin of 36,562 votes on Friday, and currently appears as though it will fail, as approximately 80.3% of outstanding ballots to be counted and cured and counted would have to go its way in order for it to pass.

The Measure G bonds needs 55% of the vote in order to pass, the margin narrowed from 10,334 votes on Wednesday to a margin of 4,049 votes on Friday, and currently appears as though it will fail, as about 61.7% of all outstanding ballots to be counted and cured and counted would have to go its way in order for it to pass, between Wednesday and Friday the “Yes” votes were about 53.7% of votes counted.

I have to wonder if the difference in the vote margin between the Measure B sales tax, which is paid by everyone, and the Measure G bonds, which is paid by property owners, was made primarily by renters?

The California Secretary of State hasn’t yet updated results for today. The Secretary of State still has Republican Steve Hilton at 26.4% or 1,704,820 and Democrat Tom Steyer at 21.0% or 1,361,104 votes, a difference of 343,716 votes. Only Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Benito County, and Yuba County are expected to give vote total updates at the close of business today, we aren’t expecting updates from California’s other 54 counties today. The path forward for Steve Hilton doesn’t look good at this point, as remaining ballots are expected to heavily favor Democrat candidates.

But more importantly , Original G, those articles do not back up your claim.
Both articles and their respective claims are predicated on the idea that the ballots in question are late. The State of Caifornia considers a ballot late if it is post marked after election day, so after June 2nd Furthermore, the state has 7 days after election to count any ballots post marked by June 2nd, 2026. Therefore, every mention of ‘late ballots’ is similar incorrect.
As for the other point, NBC or any one of its anchors can say pretty much whatever they want, it doesn’t make it so. Did they even back the claim? Cause you’d think the author would have included that. But as i said, we’re taking the news and what any source reports at face value now?

The use of the term “late ballots” may be inartful because it would include ballots that can be counted and ballots that can’t be counted, but even the office of the California Secretary of State has used the term “Vote-By-Mail Ballots Received After Election Day,” which would also include ballots that can be counted and ballots that can’t be counted, yet, we all know when the media of state government uses the term “late ballots,” that they’re referring to ballots arriving/received within the legal 7-day period after election day.

The State of California doesn’t have 7 days to count ballots post marked no later than June 02, 2026, they count the ballots post marked no later than June 02, 2026 and received within the 7 days after election day, and have up to 30 days after election day to count those ballots and 8 days after the first 30 days after the election to certify those results.

I’m not saying the vote count is “FIXED,” it looks like a normal California election to me, but when the California Secretary of State updates vote count totals and the estimated number of ballots remaining to be counted and cured and counted remains the same, they aren’t inspiring confidence in the vote counting system, they’re creating distrust of the vote counting system.
The vote count isn’t fixed, it’s fluid.

It’s possible that Tom Steyer could surpass Steve Hilton in the vote count, but I believe it’s highly unlikely. My calculation estimates are that about 2,335,000 ballots are left to be counted and cured and counted statewide, which means that going forward Tom Steyer would have to match Steve Hilton’s vote totals plus an additional 13% of votes, which would mean he’d have to get about 35% – 40% of all remaining outstanding votes, which is highly unlikely, even though the votes left to be counted are votes cast by the most progressive voters and of the top three candidates, Tom Steyer is the most progressive of the three.

From left to right, I normally use progressive, liberal, moderate, and conservative, but on occasion I’ve also used libertarian and MAGA conservative. Even the words you used cover a broad range on the political spectrum, while only your use of the word “leftist” would cover the complete range from communist, to socialist, to progressive, to liberal.

Some networks still haven’t called the race for Steve Hilton, but Tom Steyer is underperforming what he needs to do to make it to the general election. On Saturday, Tom Steyer needed to match Steve Hilton’s vote count plus an additional 13% of votes, with an estimated 1.8 million votes left to count, he now needs to match Steve Hilton plus an additional 12% of votes.

This race is finished, it’s Mayor Karen Bass versus Councilwoman Nithya Raman in the November general election. At this point Councilwoman Nithya Raman is favored to win the general election. Since the City of Los Angeles is a charter city and not a general law city, I’m unaware if the City of Los Angeles has a “sour grapes” provision that would prevent a candidate who lost the primary from running a write-in campaign, but if no “sour grapes” provision exists, then Spencer Pratt should run a general election write-in campaign.
Pratt should campaign for Hilton.
The State of California counts mail-in ballots postmarked no later than election day and received within the 7 days after election day. From Wednesday, June 03, 2026 through the close of business on Friday, June 05, 2026, California’s 58 counties received 396,527 ballots.

On Saturday, about 80,000 votes were dumped in the Los Angeles Mayoral race, Councilwoman Nithya Raman received about 40%, Mayor Karen Bass received about 33%, Spencer Pratt received about 18%, and the other candidates split the remaining 9%. I haven’t yet come across the breakdown of the vote dump from Sunday.

The poll was remarkably accurate. It appears as though Emerson College polled the correct number of Democrats, but may have under polled Republicans. Once undecided voters chose a candidate in the poll, Xavier Becerra remained at 28%, but Steve Hilton and Tom Steyer both went up to 23% each. Once the +/-3% margin of error is included all candidates fall within the range of their current election percentages. With the estimated 1.8 million votes left to be counted, Steve Hilton’s percentage will continue to decline. Also, the poll overestimated Chad Bianco’s support by about 2%, which suggests some last minute voters may have switched their votes to Steve Hilton at the last minute. There’s no doubt that NBC tried to sway the election outcome by choosing to display the version of the poll with undecideds included, rather than the more accurate poll with no undecideds.

The SurveyUSA poll that came out on June 1st was much worse. That poll had Xavier Becerra at 17%, Steve Hilton at 20%, and Tom Steyer at 20%, with a margin of error of +/-3.8%. This poll missed Xavier Becerra’s current election percentage by 10.7% and Steve Hilton’s current election percentage by 5.1%, both outside the margin of error.
