A third restaurant in Concord’s El Monte Shopping Center was recently closed by Contra Costa Health after inspectors discovered evidence of both cockroach and rodent activity inside the business. Taqueria El Escamol, located at 3535 Clayton Rd., was temporarily shut down following a June 4 inspection that found multiple live and dead cockroaches, cockroach eggs, rodent droppings, and other signs of pest activity throughout the restaurant.

According to the inspection report, inspectors observed three live cockroaches near the ice machine, numerous dead cockroaches in food preparation areas, and rodent droppings in several locations, including a storage room, behind a kitchen door, and near a prep sink. Inspectors also found evidence of previous rodent activity, including chewed insulation beneath a sink.

The closure comes after Min’s Kitchen and Concord Tap House, which are also located in the El Monte Shopping Center, were recently ordered closed due to rodent infestations.

The restaurant has since been reinspected and reopened.

Concord’s rat and cockroach problem exploded about 12 years ago and we haven’t seen them decline since.

This is another reason why we should eat at home and just buy groceries. It’s cheaper, healthier and free of gross bugs and rodent feces. yuk!

Chris,
.
Our local grocery stores have the same rat and cockroach problems.

Often times worse!!!
