A power outage has left approximately 3,228 PG&E customers without electricity in Clayton tonight, while another 96 customers in Concord are also without power. PG&E says the power should be back on by midnight, hopefully.

It’s the same exact grouping of homes that lost power on Monday. Whatever is causing the outage is not being repaired properly or we have some PG&E shenanigans taking place. House is starting to get warm. The Dog keeps asking me what’s up? Why am I panting?
My guess is PGE taking shortcuts again instead of fixing and provisoning it correctly
You probably guessed wrong. It is not in the business interest to do shoddy work and have the power go out to their customers.

I’m starting to lean toward this being the culprit-Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS): Also known as “fast trip” settings, these alter device behavior so that circuit breakers and line reclosers cut off power almost instantly (within a tenth of a second) if an object or branch touches an energized line. Unlike standard operations, automatic reclosing is disabled on these lines to prevent sparking. Power is not restored until crews physically patrol and clear the entire de-energized line.
I had a very close family member who worked for PG&E for years and told me PG&E does planned outages for maintenance work all the time and never tells customers (or admits it’s planned).
