A complaint alleging that a customer found a bug in food purchased from Viet Palace Restaurant in Pittsburg was verified following an investigation by Contra Costa County Environmental Health inspectors on June 9, according to an inspection report.
The investigation, conducted at Viet Palace Restaurant, 1317 Buchanan Rd., found multiple signs of vermin activity throughout the facility. Inspectors observed approximately 10 rodent droppings on plastic containers used to store utensils in a dry storage area, two dead cockroaches in the dining room, a dead insect near the cook line, and several flying insects throughout the restaurant.
According to the report, the restaurant had previously been visited regarding vermin-related complaints and had been directed to make corrections to better pest-proof the facility. Environmental Health officials ordered the restaurant to eliminate all evidence of vermin activity, clean and sanitize affected areas, obtain professional pest control services, and seal openings that could allow pests to enter.
