California drivers are getting some relief at the gas pump as the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline fell 17 cents over the past week to $5.80. The decline mirrors a nationwide trend, with the national average dropping for the third consecutive week. The decrease comes as summer travel ramps up and crude oil prices remain below $100 per barrel.
“Since May 21, the national average has dropped from $4.56 to $4.12 thanks to crude oil prices remaining below $100 per barrel,” said Doug Johnson, spokesperson for AAA Mountain West Group. “Gas prices typically peak around this time of year, but uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz makes this year more unpredictable.” Despite the recent drop, gas prices remain elevated. However, the national average is still well below the record high of $5 per gallon reached on June 11, 2022.
Among major California cities, San Francisco reported the highest average price at $5.94 per gallon, followed by Oakland at $5.87, San Jose and Sacramento at $5.82, Fresno at $5.77, and Stockton at $5.68. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, gasoline demand increased slightly last week from 8.59 million barrels per day to 8.73 million, while domestic gasoline supplies rose to 215.1 million barrels. Gasoline production also increased, averaging 9.7 million barrels per day.
Well well well, not surprised at all but I wonder if that pile of excrement that parades around as our governor(for 5 more months!) will sign an emergency executive order to add $5.00 extra per gallon would be just like this scumbag.
bddp,
.
We have Governor Gavin Newsom for 7 more months, he leaves office on the first Monday in January of 2027.
I’m not going to get excited until the prices come to parity with the rest of the country as Newsom promised 2x in his campaigns and in beating the recall …. I know it will never happen under his watch
Thank you, Governor Newsom, for your leadership in this area. LOL LOL LOL
Trump’s had the Navy escorting ships out of the Strait of Hormuz at night for weeks.
Trump chopped off our foot and you’re crediting him for giving us a bandaid.
No, I only offered an explanation why prices are beginning to come down and
you only made a ridiculous amputee analogy.
