Looks like the 7-Eleven on Clayton Road at Kirker Pass is getting vehicle barrier bollards. The protective posts are being installed after a driver crashed through the front entrance on Mother’s Day, which is why the store is still under construction.

Crazy that these have become a thing because people drive through the doors to steal thanks to feckless worthless DAs like Becton what a POS!

There was a similar crash into a Martinez Safeway. Foot neuropathy can make it difficult or even imossible to tell whether your foot is pressing the brake or the accelerator.

True – in which case they shouldn’t be driving.

Then that person should have their license suspended by their Dr until they can prove that their situation has been corrected. Dr’s should be required to alert the DMV to report the issue, much like they are required to do so for head injuries or vision issues.
Anything that puts others in danger should be reported to DMV so they can suspend that persons lic. until they are medically cleared to drive safely.

As an example:
Yrs ago my wife passed out at work and bumped her head on a table on her way down.
I picked her up from work and took her to the ER where they did a few tests and a CAT scan. It determined that she was dehydrated by some stupid Facebook fad diet she was trying.
She was absolutely fine, once she got some IV fluids administered.

A week or two later we get a letter from DMV stating that her lic has been suspended until she was medically cleared. To get cleared she had to have an EKG, and another Cat scan, and had to have her results reviewed by her Dr, who then had to sign a release and send it to the DMV.
It took 2 freak’in months to get her lic back, all because she bumped her head.

Those cases are rare compared to the people that actually have been activiely driving through the doors to commit crimes in the last 6 years. That is why they are being installed for theft not the rare instance a driver confuses the pedals.
